Then my suggestion is to work at getting it clean the way you want.  Stuff put away or thrown out, things dusted, organized, whatever it is that you are aiming for.  If it is NOT done in two hours, I would give him a list of what you HAVE gotten done, and what it is that you have left to do. 

After all, this deadline is meant to assist you, NOT to keep you from doing as thorough of a job as you would like to do. 

And, the point of asking for HIS definition of "clean" is to find out if you actually have the same goals.  Does he mean that he wants you to have your dirty clothes picked up and the laundry started and your travel things put away as well as your clean laundry put away and the floor clear so that you can walk across the floor?  Or is he meaning for ALL of the sorting and throwing away and re-organizing that you are wanting done, to be done? 

And I am not going to get into the "who is smarter?" debate.

thanks for clarifying, Aylee...& it's true that the deadline is to help me out & something i had asked of him awhile back...it's not likely that he'll come pull inspection & punish me for what i haven't gotten done...he's just not like that...so the stuff i've been posting about it & him is mostly tongue-in-cheek...i've gotten a good start on it & i'm more focused now & will complete it tonight, if i can...but i have enough clothing to open a medium sized store!!  & every time i try to throw something out/give it away, i get sentimental about it...i did find 2 shirts that were in a bag full of clothes that still have the tags on them!  thank god he put a stop to that buying clothes behavior...i truly do adore him!!!

Well, it was meant to be funny as well. 

My only suggestion about the clothing is the same rule of thumb that my mother gave me, "If you haven't worn it in a year, it goes!"

Of course this does NOT refer to a lot of dressy clothes.  LOL

But yes, I figured that the point was to help and not hinder.
