A quick search finds that an "independent paralegal" is allowed in a number of states.  A few years ago, California re-classified them as "Legal Document Preparers" and required they be bonded and registered with the state.  Arizona has similar requirements to California.  Washington state allows it, as does New Jersey, Oregon, and others.  It looks like the biggest differences are whether they are allowed to call themselves paralegals or legal document preparers.

Status: offline 		Interesting...  I used to be on the Board of Directors of a state paralegal association (it was in Virginia though), but I have never heard of such a thing.  *scratches head*

Honey take a deep breath (Yeah I know it's becoming a litany) and repeat.. Illegitimus Non Carborundum.. Don't let the Bastards wear you down. You should have gotten your divorce here in Florida..I did my own papers ( walked away with all but $500 of the sale of our house and I didn't have to give him that) and from the time I filed to court date and final resolution..30 days. Same for a girlfriend of mine, 30 days start to finish once they had worked out the particulars and she backed him into 5 years of alimony. Custody challenges can take a bit more. Florida has Paralegal doc Prep as well Cali, they can't give advise but they can prep documents.

IMP..Doctor..Now dear. It could be pneumonia, Bronchitis, or cold triggered Asthma with a cold or flu..none of them is to be messed with. You don't know how much you take your lungs for granted until they are either not working temporarily or PERMANENTLY.

Aylee, you get used to it in the south..in fact it can be fun in the grocdery store, commiserating on how small the ice cream pakages have gotten and how much more they cost. We even ask each others opinions on food and clothing or other products. I have share with someone debating the purchase of something that it can be found cheaper at so and so store or with a rebate.

Linea...come to the sun and sand..come to Florida :)

Kali...while you can tell her it is inapropriate for her to dump on you, taking a little time to listen can gain you some needed points in this day and age of downsizing and unemployment. You can however ask her to allow you to finish your work and tell her that you would be happy to share a cup of coffee with her after work so you can give her your full attention. She likely won't take you up on it but she will get the message and if she does..you get a cup of coffee and a moment to relax, make comforting noises and tune out, when it doesn't interrupt your work.

And now for my raison de etre

I HATE that I am up at 9 AM making chili for lunch to feed people who are going to the Woodshed with Master and I.

I also hate that there was a friggin PALMETTO BUG on my desk earlier ... but I love that the CATS took care of it for me...
