Yes, that DOES tend to be helpful.

I am just picturing trying to KEEP a mask on Butterhead.

Mini Darth Vadar!!!! awesome!!!!

i can understand dressing ums in cutsie outfits so as not to scare other ums
(thought i desperatly wanna see a 2 foot tall freddy kruger)

but why oh why humiliate them by giving them a hood????

Well, Darias, plastic masks are very unsafe because the are difficult to breathe through and to see through.  Plus they do not always fit well.  So for the very little ones, they have little one piece, zip-up costumes, and the head piece is like a coat hood.  That way their faces are able to be seen.  Iffn you want, I can try and find a pic.

Halloween also tends to be cold, and so this is also a way to keep the little ones warmer.

LOL!!  <picturing the Loud One ripping off hair along with mask!>

The faux-grandum does have a mask for Spiderman and Blue Ranger, but he is nearly 5...and I DID enlarge the eyeholes so he can see easily.

And that is going to help keep a toddler from falling up a set od concrete stairs or over a crack on the sidewalk, HOW?

And no, I do not think that superglue is the answer.

What's weird is I don't remember any of those causing problems when I was younger.

None of that stuff DID cause us trouble when we were younger, Thorny!  Or at least not when *I* was younger, back in the 60's.  There were still tales of razor blades in the apples, LSD in the candy, and Evil Folk who would try and lure us into their houses, though!  When the freakin masks made it hard to see, we took them OFF!  Also, I really don't recall folks dressing their toddlers up and taking them OUT for t or t...  which is sad, because THINK of the wasted cuteness!!

Thorny, Lady H,

Frankly I find it amazing that you can remember being younger than three.  Because Holly and I are talking about UMs under the age of three.  Not grade-school age.

I have a freakish memory, Aylee.  I've been thinking about it lately, and I swear it has to do with talking at a super early age, that if you remember things in WORDS, the memory is more accessible once we're grown up and don't think in pictures anymore.  Just A Theory.

Anyway!  I was meaning that the skeeeeery stuff was always around, even forty years ago.  I guess it wasn't as dramatized as it is now.  I must say that I am VERY glad that none of the kids at the Zoo Boo had "inappropriate" costumes!  There was a Hannah Montana, 9 yrs old or so, very tasteful, but mainly a festival of covered flesh and fantasy.  :)

alright first of all to those who posess the pink slips and registration papers of various sizes shapes and ages of ums out there. it wasnt my intention to be flippant or whatever  about said ums safety..

im aware  that even at halloween , a time when you`d wish the crazys freaks and evil people (not the good kind) would take the night off , there are dangers about. the tainted candy for one. ( we were told if mum suspected w e had dipped into the candy before she checked she`d take the rest away and burn it.. exception being the local shop owner who basicly gave out the same candy her charged us for  earlier in the day ) the older kids out for a laugh at some little ums expense... but that said we were never let out trick  or treating alone  untill we were  in late teens and by then we were kinda bored with it

even these days i see ums just under teen level being escorted by a squad or platoon of mums dads n little ums buggies etc.  ( the shotgun in a pickup i saw once in canada atleast it think it was a shotgun ... that or a katana )

i suspect  Aylee that said toddler isnt gonna be more than two steps from mums reach anyway right? and many parents i know latch onto said short um`s hand at steps etc

finally...Superflue is ALWAYS the answer

that or ducttape
