I went to buy a suit today.  There is a conference that I am going to right after Thanksgiving, and all of my suits are spring/summer wear.  So I needed to buy a winter one. 

While at the mall, I saw a stuffed animal that looked a lot like a duck-billed-platypus.  So, I told Phil that when we went past that store, I wanted to go buy one.  I have a friend that likes them.  And it is rare to see any stuffed replicas of marsupials. 

So, we finally make it to the store.  (The mall is laid out in a big loop.)  It is a candy store.  All sorts of candy in bins.  There are a few types of stuffed animals.  I go and pick up what seems to be the duck-billed-platypus. 

It only has two feet.  So, it kind of reminds me of Opus.  No problem, the lady working has a tag that says, "Manager" so I figure that she can tell me just what type of animal this is.  She tells me:

"It's a Potamus."

Me:  "Excuse me, what?" 

"It's a Potamus."

What in the f**k is a Potamus?  I have never heard of such a thing.  And I have had an Education (Pratchett reference). 

Seeing my look of croggelment, Phil steps in at this point and asks her:

"Do you mean Platypus?"

The "Manager" type lady (who put on her lip-liner but forgot her lip-stick) responds:

"YES!  One of those!"

So, I bought the platypus/potamus.  I hope that my friend likes it.
