Status: offline 		hehe - i understand your pain!  But i try to approach quilting in a slightly different way - i use what i have, and when i run out of fabric, i improvise.  I am however totally in awe of people who plan quilts - and use math to figure size and amounts needed.

Status: offline 		I'm with you, Aylee!!!  For many years, I had saved scraps of material from clothes that my mom & I had made & planned to make a quilt from them.  After moving them from house to house, I finally gave up & admitted that I would never do that & got rid of it all.

I be from arts and I be an engineer.  Math was a major struggle.  We seem to have a tempestuous relationship.

well... yeah!!! she who dies with the most fabric, and all. and i had to get rid of stacks of fabric in my last move.

i'm making a sort of wholecloth quilt for my eldest's wedding. it will be a sageish green. with a tree of life quilted on it. that will be surrounded by a wide border of patterned green/gold swirls. (the tree of life is swirly). then the back is a pink/green/gold with a detailed paisley - almost a very incredibly detailed mandlebrot set - with the same green/gold border.

of course. wasn't sure how much to buy. maths not my strong subject. so just in case - i bought 6 metres of each!! hey, at $13/metre it was half price from original!!!!

LOTS of leftovers

I loves me some math!  I used to make up algebra problems & solve them for entertainment.  To me math is magical.  I often think mathmatically when I'm just kinda cruising around in my brain.  I also taught myself to play the piano at 5 & my family thought they had a child prodigy on their hands.  Not quite true, unfortunately.  *sigh*
