my kids have come across that when they were in high school, aylee. one of their friends invited them over for spaghetti for dinner. she went to the fridge, rummaged around and then had to yell out to mum, "where's the spaghetti noodles". she seriously thought noodles came precooked and ready to use. most of them have no idea how to look after themselves. half the time i think it's because the parents don't want them to leave home (obviously nutjobs), the other half is that they feel so guilty for both parents working, that they then do EVERYTHING for the child to make up for it. i taught my children when they were still in grade school how to cook, iron and clean, and their grandma gave them cooking lessons once a week for years so they knew how to bake. both of them LOVE to bake, and i think sometimes it's because they have such fond memories of doing it with their nanna
