I really hate it when I get stuck on figuring out something that has no practical use in real life....

*in other words, why cant I just read a blasted sci fi novel and not try to prove or disprove the physics described in said novel... who the hell cares if some author's idea of jump drive incorporates two totally different field effects in a medium that does not have a constant charge?

That has to be one of the funniest shows I've seen.... It even had Lumus laughing and appreciating it. Of course, THIS CLIP from an earlier show reminds me strongly of someone who shall remain nameless, HUH HOLLY???????

Wish I could find a copy of him talking about going parachuting in college, the cooler, and the twins..... that one damned near caused me to run off the road the first time I heard it!

Yes Rain...I have known on many occasions to to eat hot dogs with just mayo and peanut butter. I have also been known to eat peanut butter and sliced pickle sammies too!  YUMMMMMMMMMM

YOU are the only one I've heard of besides my dad, who likes dill pickle and peanut butter sandwiches!  ewwwww.  I was glad when I was old enough to tell him that I wouldn't  make them for him!

Status: offline 		*....now if gravity fields and magnetic fields are two different forms of energy, it stands to reason that one would have no effect on the other, just as it stands to reason that if, at this time Quantum theory only postulates the existence of tachyons, which, being superluminal, they could not exist in normal space time, which then makes it impossible for tachyons to be part of the jump drive process, which in and of itself cannot be instantaneous, since that would exceed c^2 of the equation E=mc^2, or exceeding the speed of pure energy.... which would ruin your entire day since you would never return to being matter.....

Now, that being said, and working with quantum theory, as described in string theory, a vessel could fold space time, allowing it to drop out of this space time, dropping into subspace and then, in theory move from point a to point b, in a specific amount of time, but not instantly, AND more importantly, without breaking any laws of physics...

Which means the author really should have done more research into the physics of faster than light travel, considering that a number of theoritical physicists have done the math AND worked out all the kinks.....

Of course, a subspace jump would be dependent on having enough energy available to create a gravity well that would rival a black hole.....

Which is why the current theory of the physicist Miguel Alcubierre is theoritically possible... even if his math is a bit shaky in the area of the intersection of null space and the physical space time continuium.....
