I liked the feel and toughness of the sharkskin... besides, at the time everyone had ostrich hide boots... I decided to be different.

No, not any sharks, but sharkskin is a bit tougher than normal leather, didnt scuff as easy.

And there was, as I said, the impact on the buckle bunnies.

Okay.  I knew that it was kind of "sandpapery" because they used it for the grip part of swords.  And for boxes of happiness.

never. i would not be able to live with myself. My boots are practical for the most part. A new pair to get me through the winter, then the next year they become barn boots.
If i am not wearing boots, i wear the kind of canvas tennies you can buy for less than 5 dollars.

Jeff is a Texan. It is mandatory that all Texans get custom made boots. And actually, 600.00 is not bad.

When we were there i was dragged to a bootsmith for a pair of custom mades. The problem was i refused to wear anything with pointed toes. Besides...i have "off the rack" feet.

I agree they are an investment. I always buy Justins or Araits because they last forever. But custom made boots are really expensive.
