The presentation:
The Slaves documentary is part of a trilogy concerning the life and work of R. C. Hörsch that consists of the film and a two-volume retrospective of his images entitled To the Prurient Interest. It takes place in a distant extreme corner of the sadomasochistic world that exists far beyond mere fetishes and role-playing.
"Slaves is absolutely in a category all its own. Bizarre, mercilessly iconoclastic, it tears apart the fabric of life in this past century, emphasizing the untenability of time-honored assumptions. An attractive young girl in a pool of blood, a cruel but obsessive and vulnerable artist, a woman directing her own savage beating, another woman nailing to a cross. These images cannot be easily forgotten. There should be a place for this kind of film. My fear is it is too powerful. But it should be seen."

The presenter:
Filmmaker, Photographer,Composer, and Writer, R. C. Hörsch’s life has been as colorful and obsessive as his art. In the early 1970’s he made several low budget features and directed many television commercials in conjunction with producing and/or directing theatrical pornographic films like the 1973 cult classic The Erotic Memoirs of a Male Chauvinist Pig and " The devil in Miss Jones” which starred Georgina Spelvin. This career, now spanning over thirty years, continues to this day with regular appearances in the Streets of New York public sex series and other films.
