How did the Goreans respond to this book?  A 23 year gap between Magicians of Gor and Witness of Gor must have had an impact compared to the 1.5 year average between all the other books.  I would imagine it feeling like a few new books were added the the Bible.  Perhaps not that serious, but would you feel Witness of Gor was met with some sort of resentment or fear that it could ruin a good thing?

Maybe I'm just really weird, but they're only books written by human beings. Why expect anything more out of them than what they are. Even the best authors come out with a bummer sometime in their careers. I'm a severe Trekkie but I don't sweat it when I see an episode that I can poke a million holes in and call it weak. I take what I can connect with from the books and the rest I leave on the shelf for others. Resentment would be too strong of an emotion for not liking a fiction book.

Greetings Master HeavansKeeper,

Fyre did never pay attn to the years published, other than making note that JN called todays societial problems (the wars and destruction , environment, conservation, the dual natures of mankind...to the sames....)
to the forefront 40 years ago.......fyre finds this noteworthy.

She found Witness to be a good read. better than some of the earlier ones and looks foward to Prize.

well wishes

I haven't read it yet, but I have no concern that Gor started spinning in the other direction in the intervening years.  I haven't read it because my understanding is that it doesn't continue/conclude the main story lines of the series.  If it had, I would probably have read it right away.

Witness of Gor, though primarily a "kajira" book, also deals with the fate of Marlenus.  The final third of Witness is more of an adventure tale, pitting over 20 Assassins against Marlenus.  So, in some respects, it does have relevance to the main story lines.
