I've attended 4 munch groups in GA, 4 in AL, and 1 in IL.  They were all held in restaurants and everyone dressed and behaved just like the vanilla customers.  We just had more stimulating conversation.  All of these munch groups have rules of conduct and would not tollerate that kind of behavior. I felt totally safe at every one of them.

beanie,

feel free to email me on the other side of CM.

The thing is, that you  have nothing to hide, and people really don't care who you are or what you do.  There are professionals, manual workers and a host of other people in between who attend munches.  If you are concerned about your identity then why is your picture on your profile?

I think that Brisbane is probably big enough to have many groups operating.  So do a google search type bdsm brisbane and see what you find.  Talk to the person at the other end of the email and see how you get on.  Tell the person that you are incredibly nervous, conversation cuts two ways.  There was one group, further up country that i know sent out greeters to meet with prospective people to ensure that the integrity of their group was not going to be harmed.  I went at that time with my Dom.  We have different needs, some people do not need nor want the interaction with others, whilst others crave that form of commonalty and the sense of belonging.

Happy to help if I can.

Well, with all that Devil Dog and Cheesecake talk you're slinging around...it's no wonder.
I prefer Ho Ho's myself (naturally).
Is it me, or have they gotten really small?

hi ennaozzie, i can't speak for oz, but generally munches are just social gatherings, and single females are pretty safe, the organisers look after them. not a good idea to drink too much at the first couple you go to, and there tend to be two distinct types - one where play goes on (leave those till more confident), and one in a vanilla venue where just conversation goes on, and you realise that just like in real life, half of them you will be happy not to see ever again, and some you really like on a personal level (often, curiously, not because of their inclinations, but because they are nice people, and open about their proclivities) step through the scary bit (thats the first step through the door) and seek out the organiser and confess your nervousness and they will ease your path to conversation, if a vanilla venue, low voices and normal clothing is fine.

Like an elongated ring ding. Or, if you prefer, a somewhat altered Devil Dog with a chocolate outer coating.

Honestly, Aileen, I thought you of all people would know about the HoHo.

Hi again beanie

I think you might have misunderstood My post a little. I was warning you against asking OTHER people there too many questions as well as reminding you not to give out too much info. I am glad that you are already very cautious, it's good practice. It's just that you asked about protocols for munches and that's about the only way they are significantly different from vanilla gatherings of strangers where "What do you do for a living?" is often the first question asked!

Regarding what to wear, well again you were asking for protocols, and the usual is NOT to wear anything that draws undue attention to the group as a whole. Individuals may be OK with having their chosen lifestyle "out there" but not everyone is. There are often people (Myself included) whose jobs would be seriously under threat if this lifestyle became public knowledge - anyone who works in positions of trust or with UMs falls into that category. So it is expected that in a vanilla setting such as a pub/restaurant that no one dresses or behaves in a manner that could endanger others. Conversation about bdsm is kept at discreet levels and stops if a waiter approaches etc. It's definitely bad form to stand up and yell "Over here Mistress X!" LOL!

But do stop calling them "munchies" LOL ... the name is MUNCH, plural munches. Munchies are what pregnant women get ... and subbies after a good play! Let me at the supper table! *grin*. No offence meant or taken :-)

Yes I agree with what you say about who you work for, I keep my private life private,
I do work with authorities in my day work and also do voluntary work and I deal with authorities there also.  I also sign and witness various types of legal documents which is part of my job, although I am doing nothing illegal, there are other things that are not illegal that people might question your integrity if they are ignorant of things.

And integrity is very important to me, I know I can trust me and be impartial, but it’s taken a few good jobs and good references to get to where I am.  And no thing or person will ever take that away from me.

Just answering others comments also, the first step to a munchie is not worrying me the only thing I want to do is wait till I have got to know someone that goes to one or can take me to one and have at least one person there I know, I just find I relax more if there is at least one person I know in a gathering or should I say relax from the start rather than take time but that is me, no biggie

I do appreciate all the suggestions and comments I realise now that I have put play parties and munchies in the same category I did not know they where different events.

And now I am looking forward to my first muchie where ever that maybe, with a lot more enthusiastic attitude, Thanks so much for your comments.
