Let me get on my soapbox..I have been receiving flack on another site because some just want their women at home ,,some are saying that education is wasted on females and should be saved for the male species of the family...I use myself as an example, what would happen to those under my charge if I hadn't seen that they were educated, what if God forbid I pass away today..Most its coming from the gor side of things..I believe that those with an opportunity to receive an education own it to them selfs and to society as a whole..There won't always be a welfare state and one should be prepared for what ever is coming down the pike..my 10 cents..

No problem at all, Sunshine! I do know how you love your spicy hot chocolate!!!!
Let's see, Mr. B's has an old fashioned fireplace so let's make some S'mores.
Here's some Hershey chocolate, graham crackers & marshmellows.
Let's use this stick Mr. B has in the corner for the "bad girls" to spear the marshmellows with & clean it off so he won't know!

What type of volunteer work are you interested in doing, Sunshine?

HEY NO MESSING WITH THE BOSS!!!!!!@

Aylee, when you mentioned Monstrous Regiment, it reminded me of one of the authors i enjoy who wrote a book called A Monstrous Regiment of Women - Laurie R. King who also wrote The Bee Keepers Apprentice.

Do we need a book club thread or is there already one?

Back to cleaning...vacuuming the entry and lounge rugs.

Monstrous Regiment, is by Terry Pratchett, an author I highly reccommend.

I am not sure how well a book club thread would work, but if you want to start exchanging emails about particular books that would be fine with me.  We can pick a book to read and discuss if you want.  I love to read!

I actually have an extra copy of, Monstrous Regiment, if you want me to send it to you.

Ummm. . . if the females are uneducated, then how are they going to educate the males for the first few years of their life?

I do not think that these people have really thought this through.

H- i thought you would be more than glad to be out of the house for the day - away from you mother.

Cold food and a warm school isn't that bad.  You could even read ahead on you studies or review what has already been covered.  Do they have a library?  Do they have computers?  You might try carrying a book with you to read while you are waiting.  Or maybe a portable hobby like needlepoint on plastic canvas (i make tissue box covers).  You might even find some new friends to talk to about the bad weather!

As a grownup and parent i found that it is a good idea to always have something to do in case i have to wait.  i had 4 children and 4 foster children and i spent a lot of time waiting for them to be done with sports, music lessons, ballet classes,  etc.  i even find it useful when i'm stuck in traffic waiting for a train at a crossing, an open bridge or an accident that closes the road.

i really believe that if class is in session and you can get a ride - that's where you should be.  If it were a job you would have to be there.  In some ways school is YOUR job.

Now, here's some hot chocolate.  i have cleaning to do.

im going to be out of power for about a month and just got local only house phn back and itsucks still no cell and hope to god till i can get anything done that my school will stay closed.

Red Cross Potty.  When the planes hit the twin towers, I was in Philly, in the center of the triangle.  I went to Red Cross and volunteered on the hotline.  Lots of therapists did that.  I did trainings on how to talk to your children about it.

And I agree with you about fluffy.  She is an absolute hero!

Now I'm off to try again on the roads... at 20 miles an hour, but I'm gonna get to a place to sign up for a program to get licensed to be a nurses' aide since my Master's degree won't get me a job here in rural Ohio.  You know, it's just the first step on a new direction in my life.

hugs all around,

just over a year ago, this is what i did. i've gone from half a nursing degree but no paper proving it, to cleaning house, to nursing aid, to admin support, to now working as a case manager.

first step of a whole new chapter - and a damn thrilling one - in my life. best thing i ever did, deciding to clean houses!! and yet i was way overqualified for it too.

some people, ladies, just don't find any joy in life, no matter how small or large that life.
some people find joy in even the little things in life.
