ORIGINAL: Kirata My opinion? When two people tell conflicting stories about the same alleged event, the question isn't who to believe. The question is WTF really happened and why am I hearing conflicting stories about it. Excellent reply, Kirata. Most of the time, the conflict is a matter of perception. Otherwise, there is a problem with one of the parties' relationship to yourself. Edit: As pointed out elsewhere, this doesn't cover culture gaps, etc.
