Chris... I only know you from the boards but from what you write here credit where it is due... you do have a lovely way of putting things...simple and poignant.
Take the praise that you deserve.

Thank you for the praise Oumae. I do tend to embarass when I get praised, but it does feel good.

I appreciate very much the recent comments of you and so many other ladies of this forum.

What a wonderful way to bring that together,

Wow,  what a great thought.   I am someone who believes very strongly in human kindness.  I believe that there is nothing in the world like seeing someone you care about realize that they are a important part of life by taking that little xtra step ,   As far as rescue? Well, I used to think, "how couldnt you?".  As a matter of fact, I just recently learned the hard way how easy it is to "loose yourself".            I have been blessed with a wonderful angel in my life though.  She is awesome.  I was married, and useing drugs.   I really liked this woman, she saw the good, and the hurt in me.  SHE LEFT ME ALONE!!!  I KNEW WHY. I WAS A CHEATING, DISHONEST, DRUG USER.  NO MATTER WHAT EXCUSES I HAD TO BE IN THAT SPOT, THE TRUTH WAS.....I WAS IN THAT SPOT.   I AM NOW SINGLE, LIVEING ON MY OWN, AND A ADDICT IN RECOVERY!    I  HAVE A LONG WAY TOGO, BUT WHATEVER I ACCOMPLISH, WHICH WILL BE ALOT, A OWE TO HER!!!

i suffer from something similar, i call it my "Saviour Complex" which is pretty much the same thing without the Ds labels... i have this need to help people around me, usually with things that they won't do their part for... so depression and a helpless feeling usually follows

it really comes around to the realization that you can't help everyone "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink."

I read FRR Mallory's article on Dom Drop, and it meant more to me than just the D/s relationship.  If anything, dealing with the loss of not being "all-powerful", only mostly powerful, and learning when to remove myself rather than structure everything, was a very important lesson.  Once I crossed the hurdle, I realized that working with a sub in reciprocity more often rescues me.
I think most lifestyle Dom's have that white knight inside, at least the ones I get along with & I've met in the local community, & in manifests itself by getting off on helping a sub realize a taboo fantasy.  I honestly think that for me, for whatever reason, it releases endorphines and oxytocin as well as adrenaline when a scene goes really well.  I mean, most people would get off on Dom'ing in the vanilla bedroom once they got over the self-stigma, and get the adrenaline rush and enjoy feeling naughty, but for some of us Dom'ing puts us in a much deeper space.  Your thoughts?

I've never been impressed by the use of the phrase "white knight" as a pejorative.  It comes from the same '80's era linguistic trend which brought us the words "issues" and "baggage" to replace words like "pain" and "trauma".

Like many of other trends of that sociopathic decade, the language of the Reagan '80's has not made the world a better place.

There is probably an equal amount of people coming here looking to be saved judging by the various tragic life stories I read in profiles and on the boards. So I think it all balances out and there is a white knight for every victim of life.

Ive never really needed a "white knight" so to speak. Ive always been of the opinion that Ive created my own problems, Ill fix them myself.

Ive always found trust to be a tough issue with me. It takes many months for me to be able to open myself to someone, and many dommes Ive found just dont have the patience for that.

I have always offered help and support when asked.
And yes as a Domme I will do my best to help a sub with any difficulties he has especially if they interfere with the D/s dynamic or his ability to provide what I need from him.
However I will always believe that people have to solve their own difficulties.
And what I see as their difficulty may not actually be a problem to them.
I was interested to read the post mentioning the friends who cut themselves.
Self abuse is not necessarily a sign of low self esteem in my opinion.
It can be a very theraputic action in response to physical pain just like a good flogging can be.

Dusty - Yes, I have avoided my own problems for a good part of my life. But I'm working on them right now, even if that means freaking out because of flashbacks of all the verbal abuse I dealt with when I was younger because I was more worried about being seen as a good person than anything else.

There's a book you can look for on Amazon called Co-Dependent No More.  It will help you tremendously deal with these issues and the need to save others in your OP.
