I have a relevant, and somewhat funny, response to the OP thread. For as long as I can remember, I've struggled with sleep. My brain seems to have no "off" switch, and I'll get up at all hours of the day and night because something pops into my head, CLEARLY won't fit in the meager 256K antiquated storage system up there, and practically DEMANDS that I stop what I'm doing (namely sleeping) and get up and write it down -- then I have to spend several hours ruminating on it and finally, in exhaustion, I get ready to go back to bed... only to discover that it is morning, and about 6 minutes from when the alarm will go off. (Trust me, this does get to the point...) So a few weeks ago, I got the very first few restful nights of sleep I can ever remember -- I mean... truly restful... no middle of the night BS... no waking up for half-assed piddles... no having to get a drink... and those nights happened to be in a Mayan hammock. When I mentioned it to the friend whose hammock I had been using, xhe said "well heck, why don't you just get a hammock at home???" So... {Fire}Storm comes home and says "I'm getting a hammock. I'm going to set it up in my study."... and {Fire}Storm's companion says... "NO you're not... those things are HUGE... it will take up too much room!"... to which I responded "It's my study, and if I need to move around in there aside from sleep, I'll take the arms off the stand in the morning -- so, should I get a natural one, or a colored one."... and needless to say, I have my hammock... a Guatemalan one in gorgeous patchwork... AND I have a good night's sleep. Oh... and as an aside... amazingly, the capacity of my brain seems to have increased, as I am now managing to remember those interesting flashes of insight in the morning -just doggone fine!!- Calla
