My parents are seniors, and they drive every year to oklohoma, and he dreads this year driving but flying is an extra 500 bucks by time you add rental car fee's. Are there companies you can book airfee's and the car together with package deals with Senior discounts, or with out, for less than flight, then car as a seperate fee?

If are members of AAA or an auto club, they might be able to help, too.
Or get an Entertainment Book, or if a friend has one, use coupons from theirs.

One of the members of the community here was just talking about greyhound last month.
Are you sure of the prices?  He siad if you booked it 30 days in advance...pretty much anywhere you
wanted to go in the country it was 49 dollars.  Of course all trips back and forth had to be booked in advance.
I didn't personally check it out but he was real excited he got such a deal.

Bestfares is worth a look definitely, IMO (I believe ownedgirlie cited it). I second it. I've used it. Their travel agents are very helpful. I booked a cruise through them a few years ago.

We use sidestep.com when we travel.  Hardly ever book and flight and a car together though.

And the opposite of booking months ahead of time ...

http://us.lastminute.com/

With the site, you get a better deal if you bundle a flight with a car.

I've used CheapTickets before with some good results. I also know that AARP does some travel discounts. And if they're involved with any sort of local senior's center, there may be some small local travel company that'd help as well...

If cost is the only concern, go 'net. If you want everything nailed down pretty well before leaving the house, I'd use the local agent. YMMV.

Perhaps it's just because Ilooked at prices going next month, not months in advance, to go next month is 6 hundred and 69 or so.

Most of the online booking places, expedia, cheaptickets, travelocity, bestfares...that sort of place, you can get package deals for less. Your best bet for decent prices is going to be if you dont have to set a specific travel date....if you can pick a location and search for the best rates, instead of having to insist on a certain day to fly. Normally the earlier you book, the cheaper your rates will be. The rental cars closest to an airport, and expecially the ones right at an airport..are often pretty darn expensive. Look into renting a car from a location a bit farther away from the airport, a cab to the rental place is often a lot cheaper than paying the extra at the airport rental place.
