Zephyr46 -> Submissive types? (9/27/2007 7:43:11 AM)

Recently a Domme classified me as a "service submissive". I think that I have an idea of what she was referring to and agree with her in this estimation.  But, as I generally do, I started mulling over this label.  How would you define a service submissive?  What other types of submission is there?

I'm sure that this topic has been posted here somewhere or even on another forum but I haven't been able to find it easily so I thought I would ask.

Sincerely,
townie

As many as there are subs.

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: Submissive types? (9/27/2007 8:13:19 AM)

i must be a boring, plain jane submissive then because i'm not a "service" or "sub with slave tendencies.  oh well, there goes my pending application for "twue" sub status

There are exactly two types of submissives:

1 -- Those who serve me.

2 -- Those who do not.

To avoid the twue statements and such and to try to answer your question OP, there are some submissives whose are highly motivated to serve or do service that is not sexual or play related. By that statement i am not trying to say that service is not part of what most submissives do, rather i am trying to indicate that for some there is a very strong motivation to do practical service and they get a great deal of satisfaction out of being allowed to do so. For example, if i was to be tied ro a chair and then others around me were working but i was unable to help with that work, it would be torture to me. i have also been described as a service submissive.

Being described as such also does not mean that i don't play, and get a great deal out of that, or don't do anything sexual and get great satisfaction out of that either. It is that for myself and others, it tends to be one of our first thoughts is to see how we can be of practical service.

To address some of the other poster's comments, there seems to be whenever any sort of labeling going on some sort of hierarchy that ends up getting established as to which type is better. For me there is no one is better than another, there is just differing personal motivation. There are areas that i could be described as "lacking" as i am not as heavy a player as some as i don't especially like pain and i might have limits that others do not. That doesn't make them a "better" submissive than i, it just makes us different with different motivations and internal desires.

Hope that answered your question OP,

In a general universe definition of a service sub is a person who enjoys the service for service itself and not so much for the specific person they are serving. People will also use this term to refer to submissives that do not need or they are not sexual with.

As other will point out all definitions of any type are personal in nature and most submissive because we are human beings never truly fit another’s definition because they are inevitably very limiting. These labels are best for general and basic conversations as a label so people can get where you are coming from and not something to fit into.

chellekitty -> RE: Submissive types? (9/27/2007 10:01:12 AM)

i am a service oriented submissive who likes pain play but does not interpret all typically interpretred pain sensations as pain and that being said if you tell me to get you a drink right now if you and i have not agreed to that dynamic i will tell you to fuck off and if you hit me with a flogger when i am not expecting it even if we have agreed to it, i will probably grab the flogger out of your hand and throw it across the room, or at the very least glare very strongly at you....so am i any type of submissive at all?

don't worry about the labels someone else gives you....find someone who's wants and needs match what you already are...its ok to wait...they are out there...

My Mistress stated that my classification was a "brat," because i'm always doing silly things like daring Her to take things to a more severe level, and then She makes me learn what "watch out what you wish for" truly means..

This about sums it up for me.

Daddyskittin -> RE: Submissive types? (9/27/2007 12:34:51 PM)

I suppose my classification would be.... "nonserving spoiled pampered lap pet"... because I'm not allowed to do anything that would be classified as service such as housework... yardwork... etc... and my Daddy spoils me... pampers me... and calls me his pet.

ProlificNeeds -> RE: Submissive types? (9/27/2007 4:33:55 PM)

Service sub, in the context I use it for myself is, providing service, outside a sexual or intimate context, beyond the relationship to a loved/caredfor/whatever partner, gives pleasure. I'm sure many people like to see a job well done and all that, any sane humans should take pride and pleasure in their own work and efforts, but I see it more as almost bordering on a kink or a need, without someone or something to serve and provide service to, there is a bit of an empty space.
Of course that's my personal definition for myself, I'm sure for others it can be entirely different, a person can be 'service oriented' without being submissive in my mind, so really, splicing the two terms, service oriented, and submissive, together, just seems like saying, a tall sub. To me 5'10" and up is tall, to you maybe 6' and over is tall, to bigfoot, nothing short of 8 feet will impress as tall, but you get the idea. It's just an adjective used to try and give flavor to a term for expression. It's still all up to interpretation by the listener.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Submissive types? (9/27/2007 4:39:03 PM)

These are my divisions of submissive types- service, obedience, control, pleasure and sexual oriented.

A sub may be any combination of those.

Celeste43 -> RE: Submissive types? (9/27/2007 6:29:14 PM)

There are those who get off on doing nonsexual things, service. There are those who get off on getting orders and following them, obedience.
There are subs who are only interested in sexual submission, bedroom subs. Me? I'm in it for the emotional openness, usually this is referred to as emotional transparency. Which does not mean that you can't have more than one need, or different levels of them.

Oh and I'm a brat also. He likes that. It's a play thing for us and highly enjoyable.

onlyHisgirl -> RE: Submissive types? (9/27/2007 11:10:23 PM)

is there such a thing as a "way too eager to please sub", lol????  if so, i'm it ;-)
