GenuineSoul -> where to get a collar? (10/14/2007 3:17:38 PM)

I'm looking for someplace (website, store, etc) that I can get a nice collar from. Looking in particular something made of silver. expensive, inexpensive, just looking for some suggestions, thanks A/all!

www.google.com is ya best friend. I could only point you to sites in Australia although I have bought from overseas.

www.ebay.com can be good at times aswell.

I LOVE silver...however silver is a soft metal thus maleable.  If the collar is for long term I suggest you may want to rethink it.

Stainless?  I know I know..it's not as nice as silver but more practical.

You might want to try www.sub-shop.com as they have a couple of inexpensive collars for permanent ownership. And until October 25, you can save 30% off the regular price. :)

Okay here a bunch of sites but if you want my advice the best are the Turian Collars on DreamStrike they are the easiest to deal with and the don't come off without an allen wrench.

Look into it hope that helps

There was a fella I ran into here on CM several months back who makes custom jeweled stainless steele collars.  They are truly gorgeous, I believe he had them on ebay, not sure if he still does or not.  Perhaps he will see this thread and post. [:)]

Cheers!

Firescale has beautiful silver collars custom made to fit.  Master just gave me a silver screw down purchased from Firescale.

Who could possibly argue with Tiffany's? It is timeless, elegant, and able to withstand a lot of force without falling apart. Customization is possible and repair is available if needed. I can't recommend them enough.

*winks at LA* wonderful taste!

I got mine at www.northboundleather.com granted i got a leather one but they have some made out of metals also and i love their decoration. I would be carefull about getting a metal collar and make sure you wont get a rash from it, a lot of people have a hard time with that much metal.

spanklette -> RE: where to get a collar? (10/14/2007 10:17:25 PM)

After much oohing and aahing over collars, Daddy decided to get mine custom made from firescale. Silverfoot was very professional and had his own input about what would look nice with our chosen product. It was well worth the cost, knowing that I won't see another like it around any other neck.

The only drawback is that Daddy chose the screwdown type, which for everyday activity is great. One emergency trip to the ER without the tool to take it off made for a nervous few minutes. Lucky for me I was not required to remove it...but you can bet we've both got those tools with us 24/7 now.

My advice would be to imagine what it is that you want and then move on to the shopping. There are so many choices that it becomes easy to become bogged down in the selection. Even knowing what He wanted, it still took Daddy months to fine tune what He wanted for my formal collar.

Collars are so personal and have different meanings for every relationship and situation. There are plenty of choices out there and Google is a nifty little tool to get started. [;)]

i have a question about collars. In case of an auto accident you do not want a locking one of any kind in case if has to be cut off do you?

just wondering....

spanklette -> RE: where to get a collar? (10/14/2007 11:15:00 PM)

Mine can be cut off quickly and easily. It is very sturdy, but the small links near the lock could be snipped in just moments. I don't worry about it overmuch, but I do have the tool handy. In case of an emercency, though, I think it would probably end up cut off. You'd be surprised how ready emergency personel are for that...maybe not the collar, but jewelry in general.

In fact, mine has a few links that are not sautered so that it could actually be pulled off without any tools at all. It would need to be repaired...which was why we didn't want to take it off in the ER, but in a pinch it can come off without much work and without even fooling with the lock at all.

I find the qaulity much better and customer service excellent.

bipolarber -> RE: where to get a collar? (11/2/2007 10:49:30 AM)

Wow... Tiffany's, stainless steel, silver.... am I the only guy who shops at Pet Co? I guess I'm a traditionalist... I either go for simple leather, or possibly a velvet choker, depending on the social situation... when I wear them, I really just prefer a simple, unadorned dog collar. (Although, when I wear them, my preference really doesn't enter into it... LOL)
