Nice choice of collar Faramir.

Tip: Put a crucifix, gothic is my flavor, on any collar you like and no one will either ask nor have any avenue of retribution against your girl/thing/it (legally or otherwise, unless they work for some sort of satanist or something) . For those who are non christian, enjoy the sacriledge. Apparently christianity and the display of its icons is not so persecuted these days as we have been lead to believe.

I looked into this, actually. Any symbol of a recognized religion works. Which means my pentagram, as long as I actually know enough to make people believe I practice (Which I do, both know and practice) is legally protected as religious freedom :)

Man aint that a B*@&h!! It's true though. If my Master decided that She wanted me to wear a HUGE HUGE chain link around my neck with a cross as a clasp in the middle, NOT ONE PERSON would say a thing. All of a sudden it wouldn't be considered inappropriate. And if i were told to take it off, i could sue for descrimination against my religion. UNBELIEVABLE!!

Great tip Angrylibrarian. What a great thing to do to a boss thats unreasonable. hehe

It would still depend on the style and dress code of the place they work. There are some places that do not allow jewlery at all, and other places that have stict codes and are not as relaxed. A girl walking into a lawfirm with a big leather collar with a D ring and a cross hanging from it, would more then likely be asked if they have anything more discreet, or to cover it up. The person can whine about religious freedom all they want to, but it doesn't give them right to go against their company policy and dress code. I have a thin gold band collar, its beautiful and it has a little rose charm that hangs from the center. It is nothing more then a choaker to most people. I could get away wearing it almost all the time and everywhere. I also have a custom made, heavy and wide silver collar. It is Noticably, to anyone a collar. I also have the traditional leather with a O or D ring(s) and even a steel banded leather one. All are noticably collars, and hanging a cross from them or not - they are unsuitable in certain environments.

Thanks, OP, for this. I'm glad you can wear a collar & kind of "out yourself" in a subtle way. I really appreciate the posts from others as well.

This is a big topic to me - being up front about an alternative lifestyle in public, but not in a more extreme way, like leading someone by a leash in public, etc.

Maybe because I'm old school, and used to being more discreet, I'm always a bit jealous that somebody can BE up front with their lifestyle, ESPECIALLY iin the workplace. The right-wingers are really trying to kill off any freedoms we have, and I have seen many workplaces get more and more conservative in recent years.

I think if more BDSM people were up front abou tthe lifestyle though, we would all bebefit. BDSM is the bad boy of sexual/personal practices, I think, and we all gain if we can promote an image that is declarative without being offensive.

I guess if you can get tats and be pierced, a discreet collar isn't that shocking, but... it depends on the workplace, since that is the real focus here. Thanks, again.

I can remember a very amusing story concerning this that appeared in the very early days on the "net".

A couple were into bondage and domination (her over him). The guy worked for an electrical company. His girlfriend appeared one lunch time and promptly shoved a collar round his neck and chained him to the work bench and disappeared despite his protestations about being able to pee and what the boss would say etc.

Anyway as the afternoon wore on he thought he was going to get away with it when in walked Mr. Narrowminded himself, the guy they all called Mr. SolderBrain. "What the hell is that?" he said looked at the collar and chain. Inspiration hit him suddenly. "Grounding strap!" he said. Satisfied, Mr. Solderbrain walked out.

For almost 3 years i wore a pair of gold handcuffs on a chain around my neck. It was a fairly long chain, so i didn't always wear it outside my clothes, but lots of times i did. i worked at a computer school (post high school), wore it at home, social outtings, etc., and in all that time i only had one person ask me about my "cuffs". It's amazing what people either don't see at all that's right before their eyes, or just choose not to see.

cheers

i used to wear a pretty black leather collar that had rhinestones on it to work everyday and i worked as a secretary. Some would say i look like i was wearing a dog collar...others thought it was pretty. i was never asked to remove it and i never would, even if they did.
does anyone have any links where collars like this can bought? i can't find another one like it anymore :(
thanks

i have several different collars as well, but Master would like for me to wear the chain and lock one right now. The chain is not obnoxiously large. it is a thin chain about a 1/4 in thick (not big at all) and the lock is one of those baby locks not wider then a 1/2 inch. A couple of the girls at work thought it was cute because it looks like it could be jewelry. i dont think Master would make me wear anything obnoxious to work. And i certainly am not wearing it for attention.

Yes that sounds quite nice, I would wear that one.
If vanilla I would look at it as you just being a creative person, I course not being vanilla I would get it..

Hello All,
If you look at my photo you'll see my collar. I do not take it off except in medically necessary procedures. I'm an Insurance Agent so wearing it at work sticks out like a sore thumb & I'm not concerned. I wear mine everywhere 24/7. My family ask at my Uncles Funeral why I had it on, and I told them Rick my boyfriend put it on and I promised him I'd never take it off. Other than my Mom and Dad or little kids that ask I tell the rest of the world that I'm into kinky things, that it's my collar from my Master, and that it means my Master owns me just like you know a dog has an owner if it has a collar. I also tell them I had to earn the privledge to wear it and it's a sign of my commitment to my guy. The only reason my parents don't know it's significance is my sister's also in the life and she's begged me not to tell my Mom & Dad I'm kinky now or I'd tell them too.
I actually have converted some of the people that work across the hall as they started out asking about my collar & then about what we do in the BDSM world. One is a Domme now and several are reading books and instituting kink at home in their relationships now.
The oddest thing someone's said about my collar so far is a little kid said, "Excuse me you have something on your neck". I ask where and he pointed at my collar. That was very random to me as I still wonder how this little 12 year old or so guy would think I didn't know it was there.

I say I'm proud of my collar and would never take it off in fear it won't be received well. I'm me take me as I am or move on.
Sincerely,

sub suzanne

Hilarious thin happened to SMS today - on the elevator at her office bilding, when a few other girls get on at the 2d floor, she looks up - right into the eyes of a girl wearing the exact same collar. They both stred at each other, kind of stunned, and then both hurried out all flustered.

What are the chances?

Sir methinks that you should have gotten each girl a different collar ROFLMAO (soo kidding)
By the way your choice is lovely & functional.

I adore the idea of the ribbons, sooooo romantic!

I have 1 collar, but 3 'necklaces'.
My first necklace, and by WAY my favourite, is a dog check chain.

Then came my 'necklace', a minature chain replica of the dog chain, hung on which is a bdsm symbol. But it looks 'odd' as its so masculine on my neck. I look like ive got my boyfriends necklace on, which is fab at 14, not so great at 41 lol.

Then a diamonte choker for 'evening wear' lol

And last, and at long bloody last came THE collar, which is of course! Black patent leather Dog collar with O ring. Bought i might add, to cater to the breath play aspect, but hey, fantasies are sometimes just that, it actually impedes breath play, so needs removing for that, to encourage that 'exposed' throat feeling.

they are all lovely.

You may want to make sure it isn't causing too much commotion at work - after all, it is a vanilla world out there.

Or, there are other times he wants me to wear the little chain/lock combo (which I think it cute) or one of those chain like ones where you slip the bar through the ring (?) mine has a heart shaped tag with his initials and "tink". It also has a tinkerbell charm on it.

My favorites by far, are the ribbon ones, to me they just have so much more meaning.

i'm lucky to not have trouble with my collar at work, i now work in an answering servcie so its all cust service just all by phone. i agree with whoever said its funny what people will and wont notice, as i wear a dreamstrike steel collar with a silver hearshaped lock, and no one pays it any attention.

In fact one other girl at work, when the lock was changed to the pretty heart was comenting on how pretty the heart was then noticed the keyhole in it, only when she looked even closer suddenly she realized it was attatched to a band of steel. (i find this funny)

I work in the rather staid and prissy environment of a library and wear my Masters ring collar. It passes as a piece of costume jewellery, or it did for the first 3 weeks. Now some of my colleagues are asking questions.......God knows what they'll say when he has me tattooed with 'Property of Master......' as well

Master bought me a necklace to wear everyday for my collar. The necklace that i'm talking about was a true sign because it was the first one we found and it was absolutely perfect. It's a heart with an inscription on it and a cut out of the insertable part of a key. The inscription says "He who holds the key [key cut out here] can unlock my heart" and never were truer words written. There was even a little key sold along with it that came on a seperate chain that Master keeps. And all my vanilla friends even know that He holds the key to my heart, they just don't know He holds it for everything else too. We have another leather collar for play which i wear when i am with Him in private or infront of close friends.

Collars that are identifiable as such are usually not appropriate in the work place any more than coming in with your hair dyed bright green. Especially if you are in customer service, you're expected to represent your company with some sort of decorum. Your sex/personal life doesn't belong on display in such a venue. Choosing a daily wear collar that is non obvious is the best option in most circumstances.

Being in a management position I have to agree with this. I have had to pull several of my younger employees into the office about their hair, make-up, choices in clothing and yes, jewelry. Sometimes you have to think about the customer and not yourself and what you want.

By the way, I love the new picture Beach
