Hello, Yourtoy -

There are no easy, pat, cut and tried, tidy, instant answers when it comes to learning about the Gorean lifestyle.  That, of course, is my own personal opinion and experience.  I do not identify as Gorean, though it is a philosophy that I study and appreciate.

I do not presume to know more than the resident, Living Goreans who are the pillars of this particular forum.    What I can tell you, without a doubt, is that if you really want to learn, this is a great place.  I suggest that you do three things:
1.  Read every post of every thread on at least the first 3 pages of this forum.
2.  Take at look at the links sometimes posted within those threads.
3.  Use the search function to locate threads related to the things within the threads you read, or to look for posts by those persons whose posts are repeatedly informative and helpful.  I suggest making a list as you work on suggestion #1, specifically for this purpose.

I wish you well in your explorations -
Grace

Greetings yourtoy:

the first thing i suggest is losing the Y/you way of speech. then as grace was good enough to point out use the search feature here on collarme and type in things like:

1: What is Gor?
2: Why are you not Gorean?
3: Kajira
4: Gorean slaves what is your definition?
5: Branding

these are just a few examples of things to look for using the search function and are not the only ones you should read.

dig through all the older threads, read all the pages that come up as some of your questions may be answered in later pages and not necessarily the first three pages.

also as grace suggested write down your questions, search and see if they have been answered and if not then bring them forth and i am sure you will get some answers.

one thing i would suggest doing other than losing the Y/you type speech is stay away from the chat rooms that roleplay being Gorean... they are not the way to learn anything, there are a few rooms on irc such as BlackTarn Inn on the thassa server of irc that are full of living Goreans that frequent the room.

there are many a room on irc that are aimed at learning about Gor but the best way is to sift through all the threads both past and present, reading all the pages that come with it and if you are lucky enough to find a Gorean Master, learning from Him and what HE wishes to teach you.

there are many Free Men and Free Women here that if your queries are genuine and you honestly wish to learn, that may answer your queries, but only after doing your homework.

as grace said there is no cut and dry method, no tidy and instant answers when learning about Gor....

wishing you well,
aeleberaNB

Tal to the Free and property,
Greetings toy,

Grace has already given you good advice, however you need to be aware that male slave are not looked on with kindly bt Goreans in general. If you wish to learn about Goreans read the series that living Goreans base their lives on. In reading look at the philosophy being expounded more than the story because the philosophy is what everything is based on. If you intend to post on the Gorean board then I suggest being extremely polite and try not to be to offended if you're flamed.

Be well,
TM4Y

Tal Aswad,

Despite the role-play nature of the word Urth, and the lack of its existence anywhere in the books, the Central Fire website is truly a website worth bookmarking, if for nothing else then the fact that it is user friendly and easy to use for search functions. Topics there are so vast, you could ask it almost anything, and it's been around a long while. I understand your comment about Urth, and support it. I'm not trying to negate your personal opinion. I'm just speaking for those who created that site as I know some of them personally, and I know that the work put into it was well meant and really has done a lot of good.

One of my other favorite user friendly sites is more recent, but the personl who's keeping it now is diligently adding to it and it is very current. Unfortunately, my "travels" through online Gor are almost nil now, so I can't keep up with the who's who of web slaving, and how things are created now. I will still post in support of work well done. http://www.goreanreference.50megs.com/

The later one I mentioned also utilizes a very good search engine within the program, so finding reference information there is easy and broad.

Take care,
K
