Many submissive men react to self confidence in their dominant partners.  But being self confident, feeling "sexy" or feeling "powerful" are not automatic all of the time -- sometimes it's harder to do when distracted, depressed, tired, etc.  And just hearing your partner say "You ARE sexy," and "Yes, I think you ARE powerful!" isn't enough at times either. 

What are some things that make you feel powerful?  What are things that make you feel "sexy," even if you are in a robe and bunny slippers?  And what things are in your submissive's control to help you feel both of these things?

Status: offline 		Is this a trick question?  I automatically feel powerful when I feel sexy.  There's always a sense of the sensual when I'm in a scene.

Oh...... You mean the everyday?  Like when I'm tired and worn out from a long day at work?  When My muscles are sore from the physical or I'm mentally drained from stress?  Dare I even say it..... A bit on the down side emotionally?  <Gasp>

Ok.  I'll quit poking fun.  It's just every now and again, I have to think that some of the answers are more linked to us being people, rather than Dominant or submissive.  So, quite frankly, I do the same things as a lot of other women do.  A hot bath with just the right scent is sometimes the perfect ticket.  As much as I love leather, a nice fitting, silky lingerie, cut just the right way does wonders.  (The robes are all silk, so the analogy fits.)  Doing My nails is a big thing for Me.  Don't ask Me why, but it's just tied in there.  Basically, little things that I do for Me, just for Me.

One other thing about the post.  I can certainly identify with what you are saying about how sometimes, it just isn't enough to hear someone else say it.  Trust Me, I have a husband who will tell you, there are times that he wishes that was all it took.  Drives him batty at times, but no, it doesn't always work.  I happen to think it's an inside job.

Status: offline 		I think I understand what you are asking but I am having difficulty with the part about losing self-confidence when physically exhausted, mentally tired or distracted.

I just moved my family of 5 (plus pets)

I have long passed that level where you say, EVERY SQUARE INCH OF ME HURTS!!! So I can so relate to feeling 'not on top of my game'.

This sucks but my confidence has not diminished one bit. In fact it is my confidence that keeps me going. If it weren't for this confidence this task would not being moving along.

Also want to 2nd LadyPact's suggestion about a long hot bath, with scented candles followed a pedicure or manicure IS PERFECT! I did this tonight with my girl. One of the selling points on this house was the huge Roman tub in the master bath.

<wink>

PS.. I'm in my Pink Fuzzy Happy Bunny slippers & long silk robe.

Status: offline 		I may not always feel sexy..there are times I look in the mirror after working out in the yard, or creating something and say, "Oh my, ya look like hell. Ain't nothing gonna make ya look great today." I can have a really bad day, the woe is me kinda day, nothing is going right, I need help with this, things are crashing all around me kinda day. Yet I am still powerful, I can deligate, I can cry and still carry on with what needs to be done. I'm still powerful even through the tears, because I've done the things that I think are right and fair.

When I was young, I probably put too much importance on looks and sexy and being the best I could possibly be. That can be gone in an instant. Things happen. I don't see it in that light anymore. I think, even when everything else might fail you, power resonates within, be it raging, or quiet.

Status: offline 		Aren't women the epitome of sexyness and power? I suppose I feel powerful when I make heads turn, which in turn makes me feel sexy... IDK.. guess just knowing that I'm a dominant woman does the trick.

Status: offline 		Yes, there's nothing like walking into a place and being able to turn heads..ya get that power rush. Love it!

I can also get a power rush from telling a person about making the most perfect rose from cold porcelain. Giving them knowledge, knowing they wanted that knowledge, hoping they take it, use it and bring me something awe inspiring.

Status: offline 		Powerful at the moment means fixing the roof, flagging the drive, taking out a grate, plastering a wall, stripping a ceiling etc.
The times when I'm not horny are a blessed relief.
I think feeling sexy is different.
When I catch some man looking at me as if he would give everything he had just to talk to me. I'm sure that's not what he's thinking though lol. But we can all dream can't we?
I'd love to know why the one man I want to have sex with, wants me not to and the ones I don't, want me to. Unless it's just the challenge lol. Probably I hate being defeated.
But finding the right sub has definietly defeated me.

Status: offline 		Getting my nail and hair done makes me feel better about myself.  As far as feeling sexy verses feeling powerful, I really don't put the two together.
For me power is watching my slave do as he is instructed to do.  I enjoy activities such as flogging, cbt, etc on him.  That gives me a bit of a boost.
When you are handicapped, it is hard to feel sexy.  My hearing impairment keeps me from feeling good about myself although I am working on it.
Good question.

Exactly what I was thinking!! Knowing that I can best anyone in a verbal sparring match if I choose to... or just refusing to rise to said match if I want and thereby winning as well.

Being clean, dressed to kill with good hair and underwear make me feel sexy... oh and of course it helps if heads turn too when I walk by...
