Tal Thorns and smilezzz, I'm so happy for you that your time of overseas duty has come to an end for now. I know what a sacrifice you have made, daily in your world, to keep the vow you made to our country. I'm amazed at the service men and women who continue to step up, step out, and serve. Once, many years ago, I was active duty Navy. I was such a young woman, still figuring me out, and life, and all that was coming next, but I was sure I was where I needed to be. Bootcamp was not supposed to be a picnic, and it wasn't. Some days felt like I'd be better of not existing. I can only imagine how minor that felt compared to your world overseas in the midst of danger and fears that I could not even remotely imagine. One of the big inspection days came and went in that company, and we heard the Lee Greenwood song played over and over and over again that day, "I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free..." And I am. I'm proud to be a part of something so much greater than me. To this day, I hear certain tunes played, at the 4th of July, or in commemoration of some special event in our nation's history, and I stand a little taller, and smile with that inner sense of pride. The Lee Greenwood song. The Toby Keith song. And then there is the singing of the national anthem. I love how sports in the south all start with that focus. NASCAR to little league baseball to Super Bowls... they sing that song, and my skin tingles. So I'm sure as you return home, you're filled with so many emotions, so much love and family around you, and I hope that the joy is immense, and the special time you and smilezzz and all of your many loved ones have... may it just be as blessed as the blessing you provided in your service to our country. In thanks and memoriam to all who've served and given life, K
