dollparts85 -> Legs sensitive to the touch? (3/5/2008 9:07:08 PM)

I first noticed this back in Nov...my legs are very very sensitive to the touch...they feel bruised all over but do not appear bruised. Just lightly brushing up against something gives me intense pain. If the shower water hits my legs, it hurts. Shaving is very painful...etc...it is worse on the front of my lower legs...but even up like to my knees, kneeling is very painful even on my bed...and my thighs are very sensitive too but not as bad as like around my ankles and front of my lower legs. The tops of my feet are pretty sensitive as well.

I have seen one doctor about it but he told me to see my gp b/c he doesn't know what it is (or didn't want to risk trying to diagnose it b/c it isn't his field of medicine) he did check to see if they are swollen and they aren't so it's not edema.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be? I was thinking maybe something simple as poor circulation? Or something to do with my hypothyroidism? I am going to see my doctor soon...I've just been putting it off b/c I don't really like that doctor...

If you don't like your doctor then ask for a referral to another or just seek out another doctor. As to the legs it could be a few different things. Have you looked up your symptoms online? You may receive better answers doing that, than asking random strangers on a forum, especially when your medical history is unknown. Maybe it has to do with your history of anorexia?

sirsholly -> RE: Legs sensitive to the touch? (3/6/2008 8:18:51 AM)

if you think it is possibly from poor circulation one of the easiest things to do is stop shaving your legs for a bit. Hair growth is limited when the blood flow is compromised.

And i completely agree with camille..with.your medical history and non-compliance with medical advice...seeking help from strangers is not the best way to go.

One can only abuse their body so much before it becomes time to pay the piper, sounds like possibly a problem with the nervous system, which of diet plays a roll in helping to keep it functioning properly, if you are lucky the damage is not permanent yet but if you continue as you have been  things could get a hell of a lot worse and you could be living each day in agony.... but your choice

Dollparts, i do not want to jump all over you, but i will anyway. Instead of spending time on this site why don't you go to a medical website (try webmd) and look up the dangers of an untreated eating disorder. I agree with Maya that it could be a neuro issue but it could also be muscular. One of the most common issues with an eating disorder is a potassium imbalance. You know the job of potassium in the body, Doll? It controls the muscles. You know what the heart is, Doll? It is a muscle. A potassium imbalance can stop your heart.

You need both physical and psych care from the professionals. Please, please, please stop seeking attention here and help yourself.

I totally agree, you seem to ask a lot of medical questions thats what i would do or better yet go to the doctors this site is for BDSM not for people struggling with mental/physical problems

dollparts85 -> RE: Legs sensitive to the touch? (3/6/2008 12:50:15 PM)

I saw my eating disorders doctor about it and he said it is NOT from my eating disorder.

Low potassium/magnesium/sodium can cause cramping in the legs, but not sensitivity like I am experiencing.

dollparts85 -> RE: Legs sensitive to the touch? (3/6/2008 12:51:40 PM)

and I would look up my symptoms online but I don't know what to call this? What would be the proper wording for this?

DupedDom -> RE: Legs sensitive to the touch? (3/6/2008 12:54:50 PM)

Something that sounds like BS but is real is Restless Leg Syndrome, Like others suggested, find another doctor and ask him if it could be RLS, there is a new medication out to help this condition.

frigging heck GO TO A DOCTOR we arent all medical professionals we arent here to diagnose you, go to a doctor

Other people ask medical questions here and you aren't a bunch of assholes to them. You try to help them. How am I any different? Just b/c I have an eating disorder? This is completely unrelated to that.

sirsholly -> RE: Legs sensitive to the touch? (3/6/2008 1:24:56 PM)

this is my last post to you and the last time i will see you. I am hiding all your posts from now on.
Perhaps others might want to do the same. If you do not have an audience here then perhaps you will go where you can get some real help.

God bless,
holly

1.  We try to help people who accept help.
2.  We try to help people who listen to their doctors.
3.  We try to help people who don't make statements such as "my (current condition) is unrelated to my other medical issues of (whatever)", when in fact that person doesn't know that.
4.  We try to help people who can help themselves by going to their primary care doctor and saying hey doc, I think I have symptoms of XXXXXX, do you think I have that and what can we do about it?
