Level -> International women's day (3/8/2008 10:46:27 AM)

Today is the international women's day. To all the ladies that have made my life immeasurably better, you have my eternal thanks. To all the women of the world, a tip of the hat.

PARIS (AFP) — Calls to end forced marriage, domestic abuse and job discrimination marked International Women's Day on Saturday as demonstrators took to the streets worldwide.

The issues highlighted crossed a wide spectrum, including abortion rights in Italy, violence against women in Iraq and women hostages in Colombia.

Nearly 100 years old, the day marks the worldwide struggle for equal rights for half the globe's population.

Thanks Level; it's a lovely sentiment [:)].

My pleasure. If we can have ten threads on Bush, then we can certainly make room for one on women, and their day.

You already have a 'me' day, it's otherwise known as Mother's Day... without which, there wouldn't be a you [;)]

The only women I honor, I honor on mother's day. To the rest: let's use this day as a day of reflection. A day of learning. A day of PUT THE F-IN' PHONE DOWN AND DRIVE.

Woman's day? Give me a break. If women get a 'day'....when's "men's day?" After all.....many women want equality, right?

Lashra -> RE: International women's day (3/8/2008 3:21:58 PM)

Yes lets reflect also on all the men who need to learn NOT to drive and yap on their cell phones. Frankly I will be glad when my state outlaws cell phone yapping while driving.

To the OP, thank you.

International Men's day? Im for it

Yes, some men do as well. But as has been covered to death, women may be better at multitasking, but driving is not a place where one should multitask. Men who drive and talk often miss parts of the conversation because they are driving. Women miss parts of the road because they are talking.

*Hopes she can include herself in this*

Thank you, Level.

My only problem with singling days out to acknowledge people and events; people tend to forget about them on every other day but the one set aside.

Things brings to mind a hilarious comment that a friend of mine made many years ago. We were all sitting around bsing and someone brought up that it was February and Black History month.....there were joking barbs exchanged and finally this friend of mine speaks up and says "yeah, we finally recognize the struggles of the black american by giving them their own month......and it's the shortest month of the year."

I thought so, considering who the OP is. [:)]

I just hate to be presumptuous. [:(]

What creativity. I wonder how your friend came up with something like that? Does he own a calendar? Did you laugh?

Maybe you and Level could hang out and discuss why all of the illuminated people of this world seem to come out of Texas.....I would ask Level to invite you but the poor lad is on block. I mess with Texas at every opportunity I get.

What happened to your State?
