I’m Gorean although certain parties have indicated that they disagree with this, and I too am tired of questions being often enough answered in a manner, which may well leave the enquirer feeling less than shit. It has been made obvious that some here who post often have nothing but contempt for those who have been or still are involved in Gorean Role play. That they don’t discuss roe play here doesn’t seem to matter because they appear to be tainted and no matter how many times it is posted that they are able to keep the Gorean life style and their chosen relaxation area of Gorean role-play separate. It also appears that when other groups of Goreans life stylers are alluded to, these people are treated as being suspect because they are not known personally. Ergo unless one or two people here can say that they know some of our friends, such friends may well be “players” and not Lifestylers who follow the books as faithfully as any here. I’m left to wonder this happens unless some folk just don’t want to have others with the same amount of acceptability. On the surface, many replies appear to be reasonable answers to questions asked until you see the snide remarks, attitude of contempt and condescending attitudes embedded in their replies. The statement of course explains that Goreans tell it as it is without the niceties of mundane speech. I’ve yet to see where this is an essential part of the Life style, where it is stated in the books that this how Goreans speak.. The Gorean friends I have are well spoken, good humoured, patient people who measure a May by his actions including good manners. Am I to be labelled as an ‘Instigator” for my comments? Perhaps. As a Gorean Free Man, and for those who deny me this, as a Man, I can not and will not sit by and allow some of this to continue unchallenged. I do know some, both Gorean and non Gorean, role players and non role players who are no longer interested in visiting this forum because of this BS. Well done lads, you are on your way fo making this (what should have been a place of discussion and learning all with an open mind) into what is shaping up to be the sandbox for a sycophantic clique. The only question is which one of you will claim the title of High Gorean Guru (Ok then that isn’t Gorean enough so we’ll call him the Ubar of Ubars)

Which statements are you taking offense to here, IronBear? I mentioned Gorean RPG players simply because there are some. My slave is an RPG player too, but she doesn't play Gor, she plays Everquest. Same same. She knows all the legends surrounding Everquest (and don't ask her, because she'll tell you about it if you do, and then you'll be sorry) just like someone who plays "Gor" and is really good at it knows the books really well.

Years ago, I used to post some on a forum like this that was run by AOLers who role-played Gor. I answered some questions for them about the books, since many of them didn't have them. I knew they were "players". They knew they were "players". They knew I wasn't a "player" but I had information that they wanted, and I posted there because it made me cringe to see some of the things that they were discussing that were completely out of the character of the books. They talked about playing, and going 'out of character', and their "mundane" (meaning their real persona, not their character). So, if you think I'm using "player" in a perjorative sense, I think we're not understanding each other. A player is a player. They play "Gor" like a game. Many of them actually look down on people who try to live as Goreans. They think it's unrealistic, dangerous, immoral, or all three.

Well, I think that the pot has been sufficiently stirred for a while (at least as far as my participation in stirring the pot will go). I've been posting here for almost two years, IronBear. Long before this section opened. I'm always the same. Where I have strong opinions about things, I state them plainly. That isn't likely to change. I hope that my participation (or anyone else's) doesn't chase you or your friends away.

Thankyou for you reply it did in part clear the air to some degreee which is all any of us could ever hope for. We ate two entirely different people and thus we are bound to see some things in different lights which I deem to be healthy. Love it or hate it I know you will always be you, which at least is one constant I can live with irrespective if we are in opposotion or agreement. Like you I do and will speek plainly if I percieve there is a need which is something I look for in any man.

I may just ask edna about everquest as a friend of minr in RP Gor has been trying to get me playing it. So far I have resisted at least untill I build a new computer. Mine doesnt have the memory or a large enough hard drive, hopwever when mark 2 is build it will have all and more than I need. If as you indicate, she is somewhat of an expert she may just be able to brief me on the overall view of the game.

I immagine in time you may learn my ways as far as how I see things and post, including a machevalian humour which I'm told at times is almost satanic... Still as much as I'm laughing at something (never some one), I'm taking the micky and laughing at me more.... Probably something to do with the Irish in me.

Greetings, Master IronBear.

*smiles*

I would be happy to talk to you about EQ (EverQuest). Yes you will need at least 1gig ram and a good graphics card. I built my box myself, but it is out dated now. I need to beg Master for an upgrade.

I don't play like i used to, I no longer have the time. But it's a load of fun! The Game is very team oriented. In order to progress past a certain level you need to group with other people, and eventually you will need to be a member of a Guild.

That is why i like it so much. Anyhow, i wont hijack this thread more than i have.

Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have. Like my Master said, i am quite the geeky authority on the subject.

Oh but one thing... *smiles* this girl BEGS you to pretty please put the 'a' in her name.

"edAna" it's Gaelic for firey. *winks*

My apologies enana lass, the error was one of tiredness and not checking accuracy before posting... I suspect the name suits you to a "T". Is it Scots gaelic or Irish gaelic? i just haven't come accross the name before.

You built your box yourself? I'm impressed. I'm the first to admit I get hopelessly lost in computer hardwear and technology.. I'm limited to being able to build sophicticated detonating devices and keeping weapons opperational. anying thing else asnd I'd be as much use to a brain surgeon as I would trying to build a computer.

That's quite alright, Master IronBear. i was just concerned because my Master said something about just changing my name to edna so that it was easier on people. He was teasing of course. The Origine is Scots, as i am. But i believe it holds the same meaning in both Irish and Scottish Gaelic.

The insides of a computer are not all that unlike the insides of a human, just minus the blood and slimy stuff. I was in nursing school prior to entering the IT field. Thought i would be better off operating on a CPU instead of a Heart.

Actually, the key is ...don’t be afraid of it. oh that and use a grounding strap. don’t want to blow any of the electrical components because you scraped your foot on the carpet.

Other than that, it's really very simple. and just like when you take your car engine apart and put it back together... yes you will have parts laying around that you just could not remember where they went... they go in the special jar marked... "spare parts"

have fun!

BtW, Master Nosathro, (& this is SOLELY an editorial point)
"the sadistic implies".... I believe, should have been, "the sadist"...
I hope that is a positive comment & I wish you well

Tal..I think I am a little late on this one. The questions posed by Master Micheal may have some interest if a scienctific test could be done. Coming from a psychological view and using the DSMIV (that is manual that describes all the mental illnesses) a sadistic inflictes pain on person SOLELY for their own pleasure. In the Gorean and BDSM lifestyle I do not see this.

I do not find much pleasure in simply beating someone. I do find pleasure in the use of pain as a medium inwhich another person draws pleasure and goes into a state of higher conscience, the term "subspace" is used alot where I am. Nor do I walk away even when this is achieved. I am there, watchful and making sure the person is alright, comfortable, even at times holding the person in my arms if need be.

I Wish You Well

Nosathro
