Hello Crystal,

Thank you Thank you, so very much for posting this wonderful news.
Thomas has been in my thoughts and prayers for a very long time as I am sure he has been in all of our prayers here.

I will continue to pray for him and to send him all the positive and healing energy I have to give.

I feel God has given all of us the greatest Christmas gift he could give this yr. More time with Thomas on this earth.

Please give him a long, gentle hug for me and a kiss on the forehead.

Take care,
Barbara

Greetings each of you

In light of the Holiday's, especially Christmas, couldn't help but to mention... (and hopefully a helpful hint for those needing extra time or energy regardless their reason)

Am in love with the Glad Turkey bag... (the perfect set it and forget it for a pain patient)

~smiles

Happy Holiday's everyone,

Tal everyone,

In case none of you remember me, I am the one exploring the social aspects of Gorean society.  I just want to update everyone on to how I am doing medical-wise.

I have been declared disabled for the bipolar back in August and have been keeping myself busy taking care of myself and my family.  I am taking my meds like I should but a couple of problems did arouse.  It was discovered within the past few weeks that I have hypothryoidism and the beginning stages of ostropemia(?) or thinning of the bones.  My mother and I started working out together to get healthier and to tone our bodies up (lose weight for me).

If anyone has heard anything about Thomas, please let me know.  He kept me afloat when I was in my darkest hour by the simple messages he would send to me.

Until later,

Shahar

Greetings ShaharThorne

Bipolar can be treated quite well with meds, but cognitive therapies are just as good, and even better when utilizing both. I think you mean Osteopenia. There are many OTC's that can help with this. You still have time to build it back up.or assist your bones in further thinning or deterioration. Exercise is a good thing. ~smiles

One heard from Master Thomas' care taker about 2 weeks ago. He was recovering well at the time.

Well wishes,
~twinkle

Greetings all.

I've only now finished reading through this thread - all 6o pages of it - and ...wow.
So much strength here among you. It is most impressive to see.
Other than the common maladies associated with aging, I suffer from candidiasis, which gives me
some rather nasty days filled with light-headedness and a general feeling of being 'fogged-in', but there is no pain
associated with it, other than frustration...

But what I wanted to repeat again, was how impressed with the determination and steadfast strength I see here in these stories.
Such things are truly inspiring - even for those who are somewhat less afflicted, like me.

I wish you well.

Glad Yule as well

Greetings Qorvas,

I was glad to read that you do not suffer from any pain but I wanted to express that, that does not minimize at all what you do infact have to deal with.
Thank you for sharing that with us and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Merry Christmas,
Maahsatti

Greetings to the Free
Greetings to the girlies and lurkers,

Well it's now almost one year and 9 months since I had my hip surgery. Unfortunately things didn't work out as planned. I had been told by my surgeon that I would recover completely and if anything the pain worsened post surgery. I did have periods of time when I'm painfree, essentially the summer months. I spent some time trying to convince my doctors to order an MRI which is the only imaging that has ever shown any damage at all, but because it all points to surgeon error noone will order it.

Soooo, since it appears I'm stuck with it, I've decided to just get on with my life as best I can. I walk with a cane but am still capable of doing most things on my own. I walk a lot, which is great and does tend to help with the pain.  Living alone has meant coming up with creative ways to do things. For instance for laundry, I rigged up a laundry basket tied to one of those flat, metal, fold up carts, so that it's possible to cart it down to the laundry room. Food shopping is done over several days so that it isn't necessary to shlep heavy loads of food home on the bus.

Having a positive attitude helps a lot too.
Essentially I focus on what I can do instead of what I can't do and let go of my pride enough to ask for help when it's necessary. So, instead of focusing obsessively on finding out what's wrong, I'm just getting on with my life and you know what....life is great!

I wish you all well

zeph

Greetings zeph

That's all you can do is get on with life. A positive attitude is crucial. Keeping that glass half full is imperative. Focusing on what you can do rather than what you cannot do is essential. So many pain patients that I work with have negative cognitive beliefs and perceptions and it's a major set back. They dwell on what they can't do, continue to think about who they were and all that they could do prior to their injuries and/or illnesses and remain focused on it.

Pain causes depression and depression and stress can and usually does cause even more pain. It becomes a vicious cycle in most.

Glad to know you are hanging in there and learning alternative ways to manage your life.

Well wishes,
~twinkle

Thank you zeph.

That's all I ever wished for is that my writing/teachings are helpful to some extent and implemented into otherwise harder lives.  My wishes have come true.

It might suddenly seem as if I'm patting myself on the back (you started it ~grins) just that years of hard work has paid off in ways one could have never imagined.

Well wishes,
~twinkle

Greetings twink,

Yeahyeahyeah I started it *grins*

While each of us has a different disability the one symptom we have in common is pain. So imo we can all learn from each other no matter where our starting point is.

I wish you well,

zeph

Hi again, zeph

When I said you started it.. was meaning you gave one a reason to pat herself on that back. ~laughs.

And yes I agree we can all learn from each other regardless of starting point.

Well wishes,
~twinkle
