It sounds strange I know, but I'm taking it for foliculitus problems,  juist started it today, and now when ever I burp after this last pill there's a minty like after taste to the burp, almost with a very sharptaste after the mint taste.

I've had gas problems all day after lunch, finally got a gas x about an hour ago, so I am really burpy and my stomach is really bloated,  and gas x hasn't really helped the pressure or the bloating yet or feeling sick from the pressure and bloating, so maybe it's why the odd tasting burps?  Cause if I wasn't gassy I wouldn't be burping every 5 mins or so lol. And yes I am sick from the pressure and the bloating, not the keflex, I know kef can induce nasia, but sickness is someting I get all the time from being gassy frm the pressure and bloating.

Try taking it with food, some of these antibiotics can really whack your stomach.

May also affect your cooter, btw.

fast reply ~~> I just started taking a new med ... not this one ... and I can no longer drink coke (my morning survival tool) or eat ice cream due to the change in tastes.  So I wouldn't be surprised about your side affects.  You can always do what I did and google the meds.  i discovered it was a very common side affect of the meds I am on and it made me so sad that I will never be able to drink coke again *sniff sniff*

It's not neceserly the antibiotic itself. The burps and odd taste usually has to deal with the capsule and or coating of the pill. Inactive ingrediants still play a role in how your body will react to the medication as a whole.

For now, try food, ginger ale, and ginger suppliments. If it's not helping by Monday, then it's time to see the Dr again for alternitives and or more prescriptions to counter act the side effects.

yeah the dr did say take with food cause it can throw your stomach off. I don't mind the flavor so much as I mind having gas from lunch at 2 showing up at 4 lol. lol.

I did google it an it doesn't say strange burps as a side effect, but it did say it was very powerful and it could interfear with liver functions, and basically other info about what it's used to treat.

LOL I was just on this last week...It didn't make me burp any different than I already normally do...but I have acid reflux. It did make me really nauseous though...and itch all over! Very very annoying. And it gave me a yeast infection...like most antibiotics do.

I think the burping was a problem cause I already had gas, which makes me have to burp a ton of times. normally If I don't need to burp I don't taste the pill coating lol.

I'm just curious... is folliculitis contagious?  I've seen this mentioned in several threads recently.

I have had a similiar problem with different pills. My  cure... tic tacs.
I grin and bear it till im off the meds, since its a very minor side effect. However a tic tac or altoid is usually strong enough to counter any funky residuals.

It is contagious through hot tubs, used washcloths, and person to person if the one with the infection scratches the site and then touches a person or object that an uninfected person touches.

What causes folliculitis?
It is usually caused by bacteria, especially the type called staph (Staphylococcus). It can also be caused by yeast and another type of fungus. Folliculitis caused by a fungus is most often seen in people who have trouble fighting infections because they have an impaired immune system.
Often folliculitis develops because you have damaged your hair follicles. Shaving or wearing clothes that rub the skin can irritate the follicles. They can also become blocked or irritated by substances like sweat, machine oils, or makeup. When the follicles are injured, they are more likely to become infected.
What are the symptoms?
Folliculitis usually looks like red pimples with a hair in the center of each one. The pimples may have pus in them, and they often itch or burn.
What increases my risk of developing folliculitis?
You are more likely to get folliculitis if you:
  • Use a hot tub, whirlpool, or swimming pool that is not properly treated with chlorine.
  • Wear tight clothes.
  • Use antibiotics or steroid cream for long periods.
  • Use or work with substances that can irritate or block the follicles. Examples include makeup, cocoa butter, motor oil, tar, and creosote.
  • Have an infected cut, scrape, or surgical incision. The bacteria or fungi can spread to nearby hair follicles.
  • Have a disease such as diabetes or HIV that lowers your ability to fight infection.

How is folliculitis diagnosed?
To diagnose folliculitis, your doctor will examine your skin and ask questions about your health and activities. For instance, recent use of a hot tub or swimming pool may suggest that you have "hot tub folliculitis."
Your doctor may do tests to find out what is causing your folliculitis and to make sure that what you have is not a different problem, such as impetigo or heat rash. Examining a sample of the fluid in the pimples can help your doctor learn whether bacteria are causing the infection. If a fungus is suspected, your doctor will take a tissue sample, or biopsy, of the infected area.
How is it treated?
Usually mild folliculitis heals on its own in about 2 weeks. Warm compresses made with white vinegar or Burow's solution may help relieve itching and aid healing. If the infection does not go away, an antibiotic or antifungal cream will usually clear up the condition. Medicated shampoos are available to treat folliculitis on the scalp or beard.
For deeper, more severe infections, your doctor may prescribe antibiotic or antifungal pills.
Sometimes the infection is stubborn and requires a long course of treatment. In some cases, laser hair removal may be an option. Laser treatment destroys the hair follicles so they can't become infected.

a quick note, not to high jack the thread, however if an antibiotic makes you feel itchy all over that is generally an allergic reaction.  You should stop the medication and speak to your MD right away.
