I be trying to get up the urge for doing laundry!
Thorny...i have been working on it for years. It does not happen

I thought all subbies did laundry without question.....

Jeff...for all the yrs Jim and i have been married, he has yet to do anything related to laundry.

oooooooo...wait...he DID carry up a basket full when i was 9 months pregnant

One day a man named Jim (a housework challenged husband) decided to wash his sweatshirt.  Seconds after he stepped into the laundry room, he shouted to his wife Holly, "What setting do I use on the washing machine?"

"It depends," Holly replied.  "What does it say on the shirt?"

Jim yelled back, "Penn State!"

And they say blondes are dumb.

Actually. . . what I find even scarier. . . as a non-trad student in college, the sheer number of "regular" college students in my classes that truely did NOT know how to wash their clothing or cook a meal for themselves.  What is up with that?

that is one case where it is safe to blame the parents

I thought the point of having UMs was so that there was someone else to do all of those household things?

my kids have come across that when they were in high school, aylee.

one of their friends invited them over for spaghetti for dinner. she went to the fridge, rummaged around and then had to yell out to mum, "where's the spaghetti noodles". she seriously thought noodles came precooked and ready to use.

most of them have no idea how to look after themselves. half the time i think it's because the parents don't want them to leave home (obviously nutjobs), the other half is that they feel so guilty for both parents working, that they then do EVERYTHING for the child to make up for it.

i taught my children when they were still in grade school how to cook, iron and clean, and their grandma gave them cooking lessons once a week for years so they knew how to bake. both of them LOVE to bake, and i think sometimes it's because they have such fond memories of doing it with their nanna

Honestly I am glad that my parents did NOT do that.  I do not think that it is helpful, I think that ultimately it is a hindrance.  I know I joke that I am the one that cooks because the other-half's food might kill me. . . but he CAN cook a meal.  It is not a great meal, but he can.  He has fed himself (and not on fast-food) for many years before he even met me.  It does impress him that I can be using all four burners, the stove, microwave, and the mixer at the same time and not loose track of anything.  He has not figured out how I do that.

i can recall a conversation in this light...why women can multitask in the kitchen and men cannot.
Women are thinking: Green beans heating, gravy thickening, rolls in the oven, wine chilling, etc.

Men are thinking: FOOD!

I will say that the other half is a good eater.  Meaning that he is not picky.

Sorry Bear, you will need to send me a sample of your cooking, so that I can evaluate it.

Sadly Aylee that option won't work. By time the food arrived at your door, it'll be unfit to eat. Best option is for me to cook the meal at your house and you get to eat it fresh and hot! So you want me to cook a full dinner or bake some wonderful desserts?

I like both options.  When will you be here?  The spare room is all ready *shhh that is where I keep my toy box as well*.  And yes, bring a friend.
