Rain, save up for a really good flat iron. One of the expensive ones that cost about $100 U.S., because nothing else will do.

My kid has fuzzy hair, tight crazy curls. We probably spent enough on the cheap ones to have bought a good one until she did a consumer reports search and then we bought the best ranked brankd. The difference is night and day. And she can straighten it in less than a half hour compared to the hour and a half before which still didn't get it straight.

This is Canada, Celeste, where everything is a good deal more expensive than the States. The good ones here run between $150 and $200, a little out of my price range right now, what with having to get hockey gear for monster #3, immigration and Mr. Smarties birthday. Besides, I specifically told the lady that I didn't want anything that would require a lot of fussing and time, just blow dry, maybe a QUICK touch with a curling iron and that's it. Sheesh, Lumus thinks I spend too much time on my hair even when I just brush it out....

Maybe I'll just go buy a bunch of headbands, clips and barrettes.... At least when it was long, I could braid it or do a few things with it. Now, it's just a very awkward length.

You could do the Maria Von Trapp style. And it really does look pretty neat. Plus, it does not place all the weight of the hair in one spot, it spreads it out. Just a thought.

(Have you seen pictures of the real Maria Von Trapp? I saw some years ago but she always was wearing the braid crown...)

It does... He doesn't compliment me very often, rarely in fact. He's one of those men that uses His actions and looks to say what He thinks.

(I just want to look GOOD for Him, dammit.... is that asking too much?)

you are parting yer hair on the side...try a center part, spray your fingers with a strong holding gel and lift the bands at the roots..then spike (sort of) the bangs

How about the hippie look?

Two small braids on the sides tied together with a scrunchie or some such in the back, keeping the main mass of hair out of your way.

Cuz the dumb bunny put a layer right in the front and it just hangs there.... over my right eye. Too short to do anything with but long enough to be right in my eye.

Hey Rain...you can do what my bud and i did in college when we were too broke to afford haircuts. We got drunk (not too broke for booze!) and cut each others hair. And DAYYY-UMMM...we looked good!!!

Then we sobered up

The next day: Dear Mom and Dad...send money. Don't ask...just send it.

It took you all the way to college to do that???? Slacker, I did that in Form 5 in Australia. Thought I did a bang up job and that it looked fine. Until I went in for a real trim a few weeks later. The stylist was all over my ass going "OMG, sweetie, what horrible person TORTURED you with this cut????????" After that, I couldn't confess to anyone that I'd did it myself.

Yes.

Umm. . . I was always under the impression (and the way I have done it) is to roll the hair around your hairline. You really only need a few bobby pins to do it (hair gel can help as well.)

Another option would be a french braid.

Or just pull some back with those 2 inch aligator clipy things. (I have one picture with my hair like that. . . it is not a great one. . . but let me know if you want me to send it to you.)

Hair combs are another option.

Too bad you are not actually HERE, otherwise we could play life-size hairstyling Barbie!
