Nah, the alternator is fine, M. just left something plugged in, in the car for about 4 days. Battery is about 4 months old also. Just needs a jump and to run for a bit and for M. to remember to turn shit off.

As for sun, the lack of sun actually helps me. I'm allergic to UV-B rays, and very very light and heat sensitive. Winter is to me, what summer is to most people. By the end of summer I tend to be a depressed wreck. Winter, I can actually go out and do things. I love everything about winter, especially the cold. And 7 hours of sleep? LOL, not in the last 10 years (at the very very least) have I gotten that unless I'm sick.

Nah, the tired today is partially because I feel like I'm coming down with something... stuffy nose which keeps me from breathing which keeps me from sleeping. And was running all over the place today like a chicken with its head cut off and wearing myself out.

Why the hell can't we be 18 forever but keep learning and gaining wisdom? A day like today would have been a slow day when I was 18. Stupid aging process... Humans were built with some terrible design flaws.

The sleep is important, darn it! Let's see if I can explain this correctly from AP Biology so many years ago. . . when you sleep is the only time that glycogen gets pumped into your spinal column.

Let M. know that the car battery is not one of those that needs to be completely discharged on occassion to prevent it from getting a "memory." *snort*

I do hope that you feel better soon! If you were nearby I would make you some chicken soup or some curry for the stuffed-up-nose. Ginger root tea is always good for that as well.

Hah, I knew it. It's always that. Sometimes the Ipod is still plugged into it and sometimes it's not but that's always what is left on.

The Man actually got so tired of having to charge her battery for her when she was in high school that he was looking into seeing how to rewire it so the cigarette lighter wouldn't work when the car was turned off. Being as the private school was a good 45 minute drive from here, getting one of those phone calls was never fun.

I have proof that two thirds of the human race are terminally stupid. I have read some of the "Intelligent Replies" in various topics in the 'Politics and Religion' section of the boards.

Now, granted I am not a supporter of a Eugenic solution, but would it be so wrong to form an agency with the purpose of eliminating stupid people from the population? It would be easy to select the ones to be eliminated, just set up booths with a single button in it, with the notice, "Do not push button."

If one pushes the button, a door closes locking the individual in the booth while summoning the elimination agents who will take the stupid person to a predetermined location and fed to endangered carnivores.

In all of us is a spark of rebellion that makes us yearn to not be responsible adults, to eat ice cream out of the carton, to not wear boots in the rain and so on. We would all succumb to the irresistable urge to press the button. This is built into us. It's why we climbed out of the trees in the first place, why the first hominid picked up an antelope's bone and hit some other creature with it. That irresistable urge to do what we shouldn't. You know the momma hominid was yelling (grunting) "junior come back up this tree right now" and he just couldn't listen.

I am reminded of Pratchett's comment in a couple of the books that the paint would not even be dry on the "Do Not Touch" sign before the button was pushed.

LOL, reminds me of a deli I was working in. Well, the ice machine was broken, and we put an "Out Of Order, Ice Is Behind You" sign on it. HUGE, right there hanging on the ice dispenser but without fail, almost everyone would try the ice dispenser. I tried an experiment and changed the sign to "Not Out Of Order. Don't Look Behind You For Ice." sign. After that, TWO, only two people tried the ice dispenser.

People wonder why I have little faith in humanity...

as requested: The Simon, wet roads and windshield wiper story.

As most of you know, I used to drive big trucks for a living, and spent much of that doing entertainment transport (concerts, theatrical, etc).

Well, right around Christmas one year, I'd loaded a show in to Orlando, and had several days off. A friend of mine (who drove tour buses) was home for the holiday, up by Jacksonville, and kindly invited me to spend a couple of days with him and his family.

I left my trailer in Orlando and headed north. It was raining pretty hard as I headed up I-95. Simon, as was his wont, was entertaining himself by chasing the passenger side wiper back and forth across the window.

Some brainless twit in a tiny car decided to cut in front of me, and for no apparent reason, hit his brakes. Of course, I had to hit mine.

The result of this was Simon being plastered up against the window, rather like one of those Garfield dolls that used to be suction cupped to car windows all over the place..

I had to pull over, I was laughing so hard.

It took about a week for him to forgive me for laughing.

*he wasnt injured - physically - but the dignity sure took a hit!

We get stupid people at our office daily. I can't count the times we've had a "closed" sign on the door, at eye level, and still they yank on the door handle, knock, knock more.... we need a trap door out there.

Out in the parking lot at work we have our "Smoking Shack" which is the only place we are allowed to smoke. I cannot tell you how many people walk in, thinking it's the place to hand over their keys and look disgusted with the people smoking. I would have thought all the people SMOKING would clue them in but I guess not.

Oh and how about all the people who call a store and ask if it's open?
