This thread was inspired by something Anarrus said in another thread.  In the past we have discussed who should be tossed to the sleen.  Now let me as you denizens of the CM Gorean board....

If opportunity arose, whose grave would you put flowers on?  Pause in respect and homage before?  Pee on?  And why?

FR...

I really wanted to see what this topic was of....and so took you off of unblock to actually see what the topic and conversation was of.....to my horror I now know WHY you are on block.

How pathetic.......I do not like a lot of people that have died, or passed away in my life.  This is either they were bullies at school or other things......but not WAY IN HELL...would I ever go into the graveyard and urinate upon the grave.

I think this is really pathetic......

Be well.

I would put flowers on my grandmama Nina's grave.  She passed away when I was 9 or 10.  The fleeting memories I have of her, combined with what my father has told me about how she survived WWII in Germany as a Jew married to a Nazi, then left him and her home to make a new life for her children in the US, tell me she was a woman of amazing strength and character.  My aunt has told me I look like her, and I only hope with time the resemblence is more than superficial.

As far as whose grave I would pee on...well...if by some chance of fate I were walking around in a graveyard in a short skirt and bare feet, and had a bucket of water in my hand to wash away any splashage...aw heck I can't think of anyone.  I would say GG Allin, but I find him despicable and he would take that as an homage

Hi, Frank -

Since your post was an "FR", I'm not completely sure whether this was directed to me, or to Shreve.

I'm going to respond as though it were directed more toward myself and the original post.  Apologies in advance if I'm wrong in this.  Either way, I hope that you will clarify for me.

Where I come from, "pissing on someone's grave" is a figure of speech, and not meant literally.  It is, to be sure, a phrase indicating the utmost loathing and disdain - but is not intended to mean literally desecrating a grave.

For what it is worth, the thread was begun for one very simple reason, and one not so simple one.

Firstly, I have found that you can discover much about an individual by who they admire and hold in contempt - both in life and beyond.  Secondly, and not as simple, is that this topic does relate, in a round about and convoluted sort of way, to the questions Orion is asking in his current threads.  I'll leave the hows and whys, ins and outs of that to the individual participants to ponder.

Regards-
Grace

Hi Grace,

I would find myself doing none of the options, as I believe once a person passes on, that infact , to me quite literally means they *pass on* to their spiritual life. For me, that would mean returning home to my heavenly father. I believe I was with him spiritually before I was born and when I pass, I will return home to him. So, in essance, the grave is just a place where we bury our shells/body and the essance of who we are, quite literally is not there.
If I want to pay homage or show respect to a loved one with , I pray and speak to them in that fashion. If I dislike a person who has died, I have often prayed for God to help me get over it then prayed for that person and that his deeds in which made me feel the way I do for them, would be forgiven. Sometimes though, I cant get over the hatred and wish not pray, but wish or hope they are suffering miserably....lol

Take care,
Babs

~FR~

My post in the other thread was in good natured jest to something Shreve had posted.
This is neither good natured nor in jest.

No, I meant it literally. Pathetic? I don't give a fuck. I see "turning the other cheek", "looking the other way" and "letting it go" as pathetic. I'm a Scotsman before I'm a Gorean. Edward I "hammer of the Scots"...my ass.

G'morning, folks,

Howdy, Gracey,

quote:

Flowers & pause in respect & homage on the grave of my step-dad. While he was a thieving biker who was bluntly anti-establishment, & often illegal, in most of his views, actions & choices, I loved him as my father & still see a larger amount of integrity, honesty & honor in his way of approaching life than in most folks.

There are few among the dead that I despise enough to desecrate their gravesite, but I can think of one or two: Hitler would be one, Timothy McVeigh another.

There are a few more who are still alive whom I despise sufficiently that pissing on their grave is something to which I'll look forward: Jack McClellan, Pedro Alonzo Lopez, Nathaniel Bar-Jonah as well as someone in my own family.

I would also find such treatment to be fitting tribute to the well-known organization that has succored & harbored known criminals of the above bent because they were garbed in the organization's official garments.

As for this sort of post, or action, being "pathetic" & thus unacceptable, I couldn't care less. I do not choose to restrain myself in this instance & refuse to be shamed for the visceral & primal rage & urge to vengance that naturally arises in me in such situations.

I'll leave the forgiveness to whatever Gods there may be, as well as those who seek to suppress their instincts sufficiently to qualify as 'better than human'.

I wish most of you well,

~Kimveri

P.S. Grace, practice can keep a woman's feet dry, as well as improve the aim.... ;-P

Afternoon Kimveri,

I am not one that is into any kind of watersports, but as soon as I meet a woman that can write her name in the snow in caligraphy (afterall the shape of the stream would be closer to this than a ball point pen), I will be officially impressed.

As for the graves that cause me to pause, there are a few cemetaries that bring tears to my eyes.

quote:

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army
IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

I wish you well,
Thadius

OK, folks...

Thanks to those who have posted thusfar.  Obviously, you truly can learn a lot about a person by their reactions to the original question.

Anyone ready yet, to discuss how this relates to Orion's threads?

Regards-
Grace

Wow... grace.. interestingly complex question.. of course there are places some of which are grave sites that invoke in me deeply viseral responses.. my immediate response was something like. Churchill, Ghandi, Tolkein, Spencer,  ruins of a church on the Arran Islands, The hertimage in St Petersburg, The attic of anna frank, Arlington..And yet I rarely think of those places.. I have  yellow roses laid every year on my mothers grave..to match the tattoo on my back.. it is a ritual for me of remberance. I have a deeply emotional reaction to the peace I find in my church, the quiet solitude as the early morning light filters through the stained glass and in those moments of rememberance am grateful for what I have and those people who have helped me be who I am. I have not yet encountered a person I felt deeply enough about to PISS on their graves.. sure I am tempermental and hot headed but the amount of energy expended in hating someone takes more than it gives.. Do I have strong reactions to evil or bad doings .. yes.. but I firmly believe in Karma...and that is enough for me..

Oh, come on. If he'd been a competent general he wouldn't have wasted two weeks on the Alamo and would have had sentries out at San Jacinto to detect Houston's advance. You'd be a fourth-generation Mexican

Tal Tim,

I am not offended, but it is definately against my personal code to do such a thing. I may do things in an emotional state, but I would have to be more angry than I have ever been and drunk to piss on someone's grave. Now I may piss on them while they are alive though ;).

Live well,
Orion

Greetings Kimveri,

I do not know if this was directed at me, but I assure you that in no way did I ever imply that I was trying to surpress my natural instincts or that I would qualify as a better human being then those who did not feel the need to ask God for the ability to forgive, etc etc.

If I am mistaken about your comment being directed at me and my post, I apologise in advance and ask you then disregard my post to you.

I wish you well,
Maahsatti

Ah, thanks for the clarification, I was originally trying to figure out if you were making a play on the pissing on a coil
