ORIGINAL: allyC Howdy :) I'm taking a stab at it but keep in mind, this is just what my observations have been in reading the books and associating with people who call themselves Gorean. These are 10 things that I believe would be requirements to be a good Gorean, not just Gorean per se. 1. Know yourself - Shed societal conditioning and be in touch with who you are on a primal level as well as with nature. 2. Do not compromise personal principles to ease your path. 3. Take responsibility and be accountable for yourself and to those whom you encourage to rely on you. 4. Do the right thing, even when no one is looking. 5. Men embrace your masculinity (women, your femininity) and understand & appreciate beauty and do these things without shame. 6. Value and practice things such as integrity, probity, fidelity, loyalty, honesty. 7. Read the Gorean novels (and even perhaps Lange's non-fiction too), and have an understanding of the philosopy behind them and how it applies to humankind. 8. Do not let others dictate how you live but rather let your life be a testament as to who you are. (Excepting the law of course - they get to dictate that stuff) 9. Value Gorean concepts, such as the Home Stone, Free Companionship, & Caste Codes. 10. Make the choice to wear that mantle (Gorean) and accept the responsibility for doing so. Those are just my thoughts on it. If I had to sum it up into 10 items, those would be it. Everyone else's mileage probably varies. Well wishes :) Cav's girl ally{C} Interesting list. Would the fact that someone like myself who doesn't identify as Gorian can lay claim to #1 through #8 lessen their identification with a strictly Gorian philosophy or be seen as just a reflection of me not being as restrained by this world as many others?
