sambamanslilgirl... did you not read the second sentence?... the normal girl and boy has all their arms and legs.. is not autistic...is not retarded...and is NOT bi or gay...That is the average or norm.

Then did you not read where I said these mistakes or deviations from the norm have NOTHING to do with the WORTH of a person?

Do not read something into my words that are not there.

Now tell me you can't read my profile...look at my avatar and guess at what shoes I wear.

So now you've arbitrarily decided what the fuck is normal and what isn't? Christ almighty, this is the twenty first century, not the goddamn Middle Ages.

So I guess Louis Braille was not normal?
or Helen Keller?

I don't know any progressives who think this way.

Its actually latin.  I think only citizens of Rome should be able to use it.  The rest of us should have to make up new words, and then fight to have those words recognized in the state constitution.

Well, that is very telling.
To me, as an American, the word citizen means, well, person. Otherwise it makes no sense to use the phrase 'second class citizen'.
To Romans, where the word citizen came from, of course, it meant something VERY different - it meant First class society member (citizen) - second class society members were non-citizens.
Rather we call you second class citizens on non-citizens, it is all the same:
You have a very different set of rights. Certain rights, priveledges and yes, words, are reserved for the first-class citizen.

Bear, your changing your pic so much your making my head spin. But it is good to have a pic of your sexy mug back.

She's a gonna say, no, they were not. Have you not gotten that?
SambaMansGirl's daughter is 'not normal'. My Sons are 'not normal' (Aspburgers) - I guess that makes the Bi one Double Not NOrmal. Or maybe it is NOt NOrmal Squared. He is a Master's Canadate in Pure Math - I shall have to call him and ask him which it should be.

See, Kdsub, here is the thing that you are demonstrating that you are entirely incapable of wrapping your head around.

SMG does not think she has a tragedy in her life. She thinks, (sorry to speak for you, SBG, feel free to come along and bitch slap me if I am off here, - or, well, anyways, should you wanna) - I should probably say, about my own Aspburgers boys, I THINK - they are wonderful additions to the planet. They add something to the nature of the universe, and part of what they add is BECAUSE of their aspburgers.

I have worked with special children, as in, my whole job centering on special children. Now, I work with general population children, only a few special children thrown in (as if every child wasn't special.)

There is a little boy in my mother's church who has Downs. apparently, when he was three or four, his mother went to the church elders and extracted from them a promise to never hold him back in youth group, sunday school, ect - to let him participate with children his own age.
He is 12 now, and they are starting to regret it. (actually started to regret it when he was around 6). Like many Downs kids, his growth is a bit unchecked, and he is a big boy. Like many downs kids, he is exuberant and likes to touch and be physical. Sometimes the other kids get hurt. Not injured - just, knocked down, ect. Apparently the other kids moms can be a bit annoyed by all this.
And, I said to my mom - 'but don't they see, how lucky they are, that their child gets to have this child to interact with? Isn't that worth an occasional scraped knee? Their child gets to have this child as a freind.' Downs children (and any other special need - each in its own special way) add something to the universe nothing else can.
My Mother said, 'NOt everyone thinks like you, Latricia.'
Well, apparently not.

I would suggest..visit The NEtherlands...see how gay marriage is part of our society and then judge again.
(there are still people that look weird at gays though.)

(not pointed at anyone)

We don't need to visit.  We KNOW that the sanctity of hetero marriages have been destroyed, and the entire fabric of society in The Netherlands has been irreparably torn asunder.  We know what's next.  People in The Netherlands will be marrying livestock and inanimate objects, and after that, people will be allowed to get married to abstract concepts and sub-atomic particles.  "Do you, Flossie the Cow, take this electron to be your lawful wedded spouse?"

We - all of us decent Christian Americans, because the rest of the world is all filled with "them".  (Please understand, this and the previous post are entirely sarcastic.)

i'm never on my high horse when i speak about my oldest. it's an experience with a happy ending ...i've never projected "look at me feel sorry for me" attitude - puleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze! if i wanted that, i would have choosen to do the Oprah show 8yrs ago.  i'm projecting "she survived a traumatic accident by the grace of God and i'm VERY thankful she's alive" attitude.

quote:

Retarded means "underdeveloped mentally" if you want to make that a derogatory word that is on you...I did not use it that way and you know it.
Butch

she was underdeveloped mentally after the accident which she pushed herself to overcome.

and yes you did use it in a negative way.

*smiles*

i see my tragedies as an life experience which i share the ups, downs, joys and struggles as we (my daughters and myself) overcome together and also learn from others who had similar tragedies.  'm not looking for group hugs or pats on the back or "woe is you" replies.

yes, i agree with you about minor with special needs/disabilities - they do add something special to this universe. i've never asked for "normal" healthy ones yes but never normal. on the flipside, it's my ex who treats my oldest as she isn't "normal" ...he babies and smothers her ...he calls to make sure i'm doing my best to "protect" her.  i keep reminding him that she's doing just fine by not letting anything hinder her from living.

Sodomy and Ghamora?  What's a giant flying turtle got to do with anal sex?
Oh... probably about as much as gay marriage would with destroying the sanctity of marriage.

Then I really hate to break the news to you Racquelle. You may want to prepare for Armageddon cause not only have I destroyed the fabric of society but I am also Pagan. So I guess that in itself means I'm also out to destroy the Christian society as well.
*hands head in utter shame*     ~sigh~

Yes I know Greedy, first thing tomorrow I am turning myself in to the "normal" professionals. I'll undergo, shock treatment and aversion therapy before undergoing a frontal lobotomy and then probably be sent to a camp where I will be subjected to bizarre medical experimentation and be forced to wear a pink triangle on my shirt sleeve.
