Greetings Masters, Mistresses and slaves...

For those who are allergic to metals, (other then only the most expensive gold or silver)...I am sharing a warning. Master purchased a gorean collar, the solid bar with interlocking ends connected by what is called an allens wrench, so the circle is not broken. It is stainless steel. The screws however, are not. Becoming wet due to daily showers, they rusted over time, creating a very painful rash on the neck.

We thought it would be safe, being as allergies to stainless steel are not common, but it never occured to ask about those teeny, tiny screws. I am not the first this has happened to, a dear friend also had to have her collar removed when a rash broke out...so thought I would pass this along.

Wishing all a splendid Thursday.

You can probably find a place where they sell steinless stell screws, also there are several types of coating and such that can be aplied to jewlwery and then surly also to collars to make them alergic frindly, but it need to be werry good quality and one must be careful whit things one wear 24/7 when one have alergies.

The manufacturers of those collars should provide stainless screws if asked. If they don't, they're lame. Fortunately, you can get stainless steel hex head cap screws or set screws (depending on which type of fastener your particular collar uses) at most decent hardware stores.

Also there are other options, sterling sliver neclaces that look like a chain around your neck and sit thightly are not that expesive, at least not in Norway. i know that is not a Gorean collar, but it is still a collar, and might be an idea if yhou are werry alergic.

Best thing to do before ordering any collar is to ask questions about the manufacturing and parts. If the builders are experienced they will generally give you a description of how they are made and what materials even the smallest parts are made of plus wear and care of them. That is a general smart practice with anything though, know what you are getting exactly before buying to save yourself trouble down the road.

all jewlers carry both gold and silver screws that can replace the lead or non stainless screws if need be and curtails the expensive need for a whole gold or silver collar making the stainless steel ones wearable by those with alergies and are less the expence.

Jewelers generally don't stock allen head set screws in gold or silver in the sizes used for the eternity/dreamstrike/etc. collars (1/8").

Aww! i just recieved an eternity collar for Christmas from my Master and His wife. Now i'm all worried about having a reaction. :(

Thanks, stef, for providing the size, it may come in handy for someone. i would hate to not be able to wear His collar because the screw had gotten lost... for some reason... i wear it all the time, 24/7, so that hopefully will not happen.

What are the screws made of? The only thing i am allergic to is nickel earrings, but other jewelry (peircings and such) has not caused problems.
