Hi Jenny....
You wrote "she actually abided the laws and still got into trouble".
Well, from what I am seeing and have seen (in this case and GM's), the FBI / govt doesnt need people to actually break any laws before they are arrested. They just have to dislike the persons life or lifestyle; the actually legality of acts committed seems to be quite irrelevant.

These things do not bode well for the future of freedom.

Sincerely,

Thanks for providing a link to the Courier's coverage of this case.

A local paper, the Journal Inquirer (Manchester/Enfield CT) ran longer article last week. It read as if the police were looking for any reason to nail her.

quote:

Enfield's zoning enforcement officer, Wayne Bickley, says that in July 2004 he approved only the use of an office at Silva's home so she could run an Internet site, adding he did not know the nature of the site then.

"I really don't have the right to ask," Bickley says. "If I get evidence of something going on beyond what she applied for, that's a misrepresentation and possible violation."
<snip>
Bickley says he was contacted by police in November when they were looking for information about the house. He is waiting for more details from police before considering action of his own.

On wed Nov 16th the raid occurred. http://empressm.net/raid.htm …To get the whole story of what is going on all needs to be read…after waiting weeks for any news to surface an article came out on http://www.ynot.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=news_article&sid=9986 When a local reporter from the journal inquier decided to do a story based on what he found on the internet. At that point my attorney and the police said this read here http://www.journalinquirer.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=15727077&BRD=985&PAG=461&dept_id=161556&rfi=6http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=15727077&BRD=985&PAG=461&dept_id=161556&rfi=6l
on dec 17th the story came out in the Hartford courant ..saying http://www.courant.com/news/local/hc-enfraid1216.artdec16,0,4809501.story

To conclude another interview was done with my attorney who is making this a first amendment case..Police say it was or they are trying to prove a computer crime..
They did not come to my home for my pro domination stuff as it is non- sexual
And they do not care about that…5 hrs of searching produced nothing as well as 5 weeks with the evidence …I think it’s a cover up for their 30 cop raid…
Here is the news that came out today
http://www.courant.com/news/local/hc-enfraid1217.artdec17,0,5530399.story?coll=hc-headlines-local
So before you past judgment on things you don’t know. Its important to get the facts.
And that is this was wrong and it will be proven.

I taught criminology for 26 years. Police are lazy civil servants. They respond to citizen complaints; they do not go looking for extra work.

Timmerman says complaints to police about Silva's home cited traffic, including vehicles from out of state.

"There were a lot of strange cars showing up, and a lot of strange people," Timmerman says of the complaints.

All lifestylers should read this statement from the police and remember...fly low.

If the articles are correct, she would have to have ANOTHER permit to have customers there.

I didn't read that she had that permit.

If that's the only violation, slap her with a fine.

On the other hand, I can understand that police wanting to check the computers. There may be information on them that is against CT law.I know some FL law, but not CT.

As I said on a Lj community, running a website means not only knowing local/state laws, but also national/international laws. It sucks, but that's the way the WORLD works.

I have never been to her site, but as there is membership required, I would assume that it fits all local/state/national laws.

This is why I will never run ANY adult business. To many laws.

._. That actually hits sort of close to home. My boyfriend has a collection of hentai, and a lot of the women look underaged, and there was a complaint from our manager. None of it was illegal, and now he has to go to these bullshit sex offender groups, mind that he has never been charged or convicted as a sex offender. He only went in for bank fraud, which I would say is a bit different. These pictures are protected by the first ammendment, we even found some documentation online from some law school archive, and after a supreme court decision as well. There were no child models, it was all computer graphics he found on some website and was like "Oh, that's awesome artwork!" He's actually one the way to the group now...

Though, what's worse, I look through some of his therapy books, and I love how they say that BDSM is a 'deviant' behavior. Let's just trample all over the first ammendment, huh?

Hi all...
Lovingmaster, you write that we should "fly low". I cant aggree with that, as I do not feel I should be forced to hide activities which are not in any way shape or form illegal. Even if they can be mis-percieved or misunderstood by others.

I feel that we should be encouraging diversity and freedom for minorities, (and we are a sexual minority) rather than stating we must conform to societies views.

I do NOT know the CT laws; but here in the Bible Belt you had better fly low if you are doing anything sexual unless you are married to your partner and doing it in the missionary position. Oral sex is defined as "laws agains nature" and anal sex is sodomy. Sex before marriage is fornication and sex outside of the marriage is adultery. All are felonies and CAN get you busted.

Add that to the fact that police do NOT have to have a good case to make an arrest and force you to spend tons of money and hours of your life defending yourself against a trumped up charge.

In case you missed it...police have guns and badges and an entire prosecutorial staff to make your life a living hell; whether you have violated the laws or not.

Get real and face the reality of living in a sexually repressed society.
