Hi Lilac,

You're welcome. That's exactly what we're hoping this thread accomplishes.

Live well,

Tim

Tal Tim,

A very noble attempt. Let's hope it works...but as they say....
"You can lead a horse to water...."
No that's not a Gorean quote, but applicable in this case.

Be well friend

Anarrus

Well, Anarrus my friend, what say you now?

Is the noble attempt working? Are the horses thirsty? Does the idea need tweaking?

And yes, we will indeed meet at the Three Bear and catch up again (when the dust settles here in a few months).

Live well,

Tim

Anarrus -> RE: FAQ Threads (2/22/2009 9:07:57 AM)

Hey Tim,

Yeh, I'd say the horses have been lead and are definitely drinking.
The only thing needed is for this to be made sticky. (hint..hint..hint to the Mods)

Be well

Anarrus

As a new comer myself I have already stuck my foot in it and unfortunately stepped on the wrong toes. That said I am learning and gaining knowledge everyday.

My question today is I am looking for a website I was told about. Central fire.com
I tried it last night and for some reason it's not coming up perhaps I have the information incorrect..

I"m also having a bit of a problem navigating through Castle realm any suggestions ??

Greetings Omega1955sjoy,

It is my understanding that both of these sites are defunct.
Hope you find others that are useful for what you are looking for.

Best,
aj

joy,

I wouldn't worry about it. People here are more tolerant and reasonable than they may at first appear.

Live well,

Tim

Tal Tim,

Excellent job with consolidating all of this information.  Tis a shame that it isn't stickied.

Give me a chance to finish up these finals, and perhaps there are a few more links I can add.

I wish you well,
Thadius

Much care to you,

Musicmystery -> RE: FAQ Threads (5/12/2009 7:17:50 AM)

Thanks Thadius! Welcome back!

I've added a few links myself for two commonly discussed issues. Here's the new, complete list:
__________________________________________________________________________________

For those new to Gor, or at least to this forum, these threads address Frequently Asked Questions:

For those wishing to learn about Gor
Starting FAQ Thread
Everything you wanted to know about Goreans, but were afraid to ask
The Newcomer

What is beyond the simple definition of "What is this Gor stuff all about?" might interest those with Gor experience/knowledge, as might Honor, Code, and your Life. You can also find a host of discussions on specific points--in the upper right hand corner is a "search" link. Click it, and you'll see you can make it specific to the Gorean board, as well as narrow your search to Topics only and in a variety of other ways.

Here is a link to a list of the Gor books
Where can I find the Gor books?

Silk and Steel also has a good "WHAT IS GOR: THE FUNDAMENTAL BASICS" thread.

Lots of people have questions about how slaves are considered livestock in the books.
This thread, Livestock, Gor, BDSM, Vanilla, and Reading the Books, discusses that issue.

Here too are thread links addressing common questions about Gor and love and BDSM vs. Gor.

Enjoy, and welcome to the Gorean forum!

Greetings Tim,

I was thinking that this should be put in the Gorean FAQ, as we do get many questions on this. Again, well done.

Live well,
Orion

Hello all,

I’ve added the link Orion suggested. Here's the new, complete list:

Hey i came across this quote today that i thought may be beneficial for people wanting to learn about Gor:

Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers.
Tony Robbins

Yeah, yeah, i am caught up in him at the moment lol and came across this quote of his and was like ya know, maybe newcomers can get something put of this and maybe they will understand it when they want answers about Gor.   Take it or leave it.

angel

Musicmystery -> RE: FAQ Threads (6/13/2009 4:26:45 PM)

Hi angel,

Yes, having been through all his stuff, he's getting at taking action and responsibility. Instead of "Why me?" or "But what can I do?," using questions like "Where exactly do I want to be?" and "What one action can I take right now to begin to move me closer to that goal?" And by the way--those are both excellent questions.

We talk a lot about the philosophy in the books, and we discuss it, but it's worth remembering that Goreans take action, not accept the status quo as victims. And certainly in the case of a newcomer, taking the initiative to read and learn rather than seek to be feed second hand is the best approach to question one, "What is Gor?"

In answer to a newbie question on another site, I offered, "Tell you what. Read Tarnsman of Gor--it's an easy read and won't take long. If you hate it, problem solved. If you're interested, continue on to Outlaw of Gor." It's a straight-forward action that directly addresses the task, as well as saving the trouble of undoing a lot of misinformation from various pseudo-sources.

Live well,

Tim

Musicmystery -> RE: FAQ Threads (6/27/2009 8:48:03 AM)

So let's hear from folks who may have used some of these FAQ threads--help guide others to what you found useful.

Or what (short of what you should learn by reading the books, of course) would also be useful to have at hand?

Live well, and enjoy life.

sweetgirlserves -> RE: FAQ Threads (6/27/2009 9:21:05 AM)

I don't know if this is allowed, but perhaps a link of resources to other sites that people here think are valuable would be helpful.   For example, I love the sardaria site, and learned a lot from reading the archives and the essays, etc that abound on that site.   Also, perhaps a link to Luther's scrolls might be helpful.   Perhaps also a message warning against sites with less integrity in regards to what Gor is actually all about would be helpful.

This is definitely an "I love it when..." moment.  I'm reading the first of the Norman series as part of an essay project and had decided to ask if anyone here could recommend some online resources for more information.  I understand the books are the basis, but I'd like more information re: the community and how it's applied to daily life.

So I composed my post and while looking for a place to post it, I found this thread.  Thanks.

To what I've found most useful:  All of the Collarme references are useful and I'm still doing an overview but
so far the Gorean Live Networks, Silk and Steel, and Malkinius' site seem to have the sort of thing I'm looking for.

I have a question, too.  I'd like to spend some time in a Gorean chatroom.  Naturally, I would be willing to observe etiquette and I'm not going to represent myself as someone I'm not, but I do know there are those who feel even observation by an "outsider" is a transgression in itself.  Is there a general consensus on that idea here in the CM chatrooms and/or are there some chats more appropriate for this than others?

Thank you again,
Sybilla

Mitzie -> RE: FAQ Threads (6/27/2009 12:42:52 PM)

greetings sybilla

talking about chatrooms and asking advice about them is not really a good idea because you will normally get told to meet people offline however thats not always possible.

on CM there are different chatrooms that do different things some speak in a forein language and say its from the books

others will try and collar you the minute you enter.

in ours there is light role play but for the best part we chat about anything which is daily life also about the books and we have debates and discussions some which can be quite interesting. I know others may disagree but its a chance to actually chat to people and hear there views ect ,,,

Mitzie

ElizabethAnne -> RE: FAQ Threads (6/27/2009 2:22:48 PM)

Hello Sybilla,

I would add another web site to your list, this website is probably one of the best ones out there.

www.fogaban.com

He has a lot of great information, and will give you yet some more insight.  Good to see you are reading the books.

Take care,

Elizabeth Anne
