What I am going to do here is simply use some common sense, there are many on-line who have had the bad experience of being in violent or destructive relationships (both men and women) and who want to make sure their old ex can’t find them.

First change your nic

Second don’t post any real pictures of yourself

Third don’t give out any details that could identify you and especially details of illnesses or where you now live or used to live.

The internet is full of faceless people be one of them if you are worried about being found. Its not rocket science to realise that someone can find you if you hand out everything they need in your profile or in discussions.

Greetings Cheryl,

I do not think that the major problem is the online. A few clicks here and there, and someone can be hidden and only seen by a few. Most sites upon the net have that advantage, like collarme with profiles being hidden. Now facebook has been told that its future people in writing on their website have been put on notice that some certain writings can and will be passed onto the authorities.

This is all good for the web, but in reality it becomes a headache. In aussie land there are private detectives whom do not care about what they are doing, just as long as they are being paid. Now with some detectives they have a flood of people helping them in doing this work for money. But like you have said about the internet and not letting info out, this helps in stopping those private detectives in tracking down people.
