Agreed. You would have to believe that McCain-Feingold will end up being a bridge too far. (lacking a better term)

There definitely needed to be something to curb the way money was donated and raised, but one of the side effects troubles me.  Now that a single contributor can only give $2000 (I think that is the limit), the candidates have to spend more time raising funds than actually working.  So they travel to more fund raisers than in the past, to keep up with the spending increases (insane ammounts of spending) on advertising and campaigning.

I was glad to see that you did some work for a local candidate, more people should actually participate in the system, especially at the grassroots level.  I have done a bit of work for some candidates on the city, township, county and state levels in Illinois.  Also a bit of election judging, and poll watching.

I wish you well,
Thadius

P.S. I had brought up in another forum, whether a Gorean party could be viable on a local or national platform.  The general consensus was that the stigma that "mainstream" America places on some of our beliefs would be the death nail to any candidate that identified as a Gorean.

This is a rich topic these days with the likelyhood that the democrats will have an edge in the 2008 elections regardless of the republican candidates (Rudy and McCane would be my guess). I can seriously see us with a recall election by 2010.  Hillary as a democratic president with a democratic congress would be hell on wheels.  Someone here said there could be nothing more damaging to the womens movement and I agree.  She did do the good wife thing and sit in quiet support and forgiveness of her cheating husband but in doing so did she demonstrate her lack of strenghth or did she just show how well she would handle a situation that clearly called for an ass kicking.  In any case her becoming president would convince everyone that the womens movement has gone too far. Lets get the women back in the house raising the kids like they were built for.  Lets get jobs back to where they pay men well enough to take care of thier families and lets stop being so bleading heart over the people who cannot take care of thierselves.

Now on the other hand if Hillary went in and said "alright boys what this war needs is a greedy bitch in the drivers seat" and held a press conference announcing that we were no longer interested in supporting the country formerly known as Iraq in thier efforts to be self governing, now we are taking control of our newest off shore state called ka-ching.  A seperate letter should be sent to Opec announcing our joining the club and letting them know that all the valves are full open and now the value of the barrel is diving lower by the minute and will continue to do so untill someone delivers Binladen to ground zero.

Then I would even vote to re elect her for the 2nd term

Jeffrey

Norway have had a female prime minister and now that a Princess hair have been born we will one day have a Queen. The Prime Minister, later went on to become the leader of the world`s biggest health organisation, she is a true leader, even if she is a woman. And i belive there are such leader woman that have as Master Leonidas said, beome like men, and i do not see a problem whit one as President or as leader of a nation, but i think there will always be few such women that are truly leaders like that that truly lusts for power.

The day a female becomes President of the United States is the day I move out of the country.

Why?

Look at some of the countries who have had females as their fearless leader.. The Philippines - They got no respect.  Even to some extent the UK say under Thatcher really was not respected.

You take some of the U.S. Presidents who knew what they were doing...noone messed wif them (which were the majority) (us).

I do not want to imagine a person who has the ability to launch nuclear weapons on pms-not good.

Well i am sitting here watching CBS News this morning and they have this segment on a woman being elected president. Some of the interesting polls stated that 95% of America would indeed vote for a woman president if she were qualified, however 57% of women stated they are sceptical of the US being ready for a woman president that to the 47% of men. It is said that women are held up to a higher standard than Men in such an office, what people are worried about is a woman's ability to lead the US in National Security. But another major thing people are reluctant to see in the US is the "First Husband." Even in the show Commander in Chief there was a hard turn about in her husband taking the role of a first husband as does the first lady.

So what am i asking? Even though there were female led cities and government in the Gorean cities.. they were not the majority, The US is considered one of the world's Super Power right now, we have 2 major parties here in the US.. and political party is usually very important to people also, so i am wondering what the take on the US having a woman president in the mind of GOREANS.

Do you feel being Gorean has or doesn't have anything to do with who runs the country? Do you have issues with a woman being able to lead our country; why or why not; do you feel that Men are better to be in such an office as a world super power; If you are staunchly against a woman as president, would you in fact vote against your party or not at all? Do you believe the government so screwed up that you wouldn't be surprised if they put a woman in office. There are all kinds of questions i could ask... This is open to all countries.. i just focus on the US cause its what i know..

I am asking this within the gorean forum because i am curious about gorean opinion based on their beliefs and mindsets. I realize a lot of people who don't consider themselves Gorean come here saying "i am not gorean but here is my opinion anyway" and turn these topics into a free for all of just general opinions but i really am looking for those opinions from those who consider themselves GOREAN. Thanks.

"Hillary as a democratic president with a democratic congress would be hell on wheels."

That's an understatement.

I enjoy having opposing sides per se "in power" in the various branches of government. It makes for balance, well at least an attempted balance.

You even saw this when the house and senate were held by the Repulicans, it started to balance out because one extreme or the other is not really a good thing.

Master. Norway is well respected for its size, we have firndly dealing whit many contries and our leaders have often gone on to high positions in international organisations. We had a women Prime Minister, and few Prime Ministers was more loved and put Norway more on the map that Ms Bruntland. When her periods was up she moved on to be leader of the World Health Organisation.

Finnland, though not the most well known contriey it is not spoken ill of, they have a women President, or at least they did before the last election, i dont pay atention to Finish politics.

Many groups and contries have had female leaders and done very well.

Greetings Master Thadius ...

Well, I just don't know anything about this, which of course doesn't mean it didn't happen. I've been trying to find almost anything about Senator Clinton ever acting as a special prosecutor, or even working on that side of the legal system, and have come up empty.

We do of course know of her role with The Rose Firm in the case against Madison S&L. What more can be said about that ... the tax payers spent a lot of money and got no return as far as assigning blame.

I sort of put these things in the same category as the accusations against Vice President Cheney in the Enron case ... lots of nice talking points, but no facts behind them.

Apologies to any, for jacking this thread.

Any administration right now, stands a chance of doing a better job than the current one.
Every time I think about how glad I am I did not vote for this current President, I just start beaming.
I wonder how the people that voted for him twice sleep at night.
Anyway I am wondering about the 12 billion now that "disappeared in Iraq".
Especially since I see so many Domestic cuts on the table now.

Come on now, please, you can't be serious.
Many people tell me they wish to GOD, her husband could run for President.

It seems very likely, that whomever would have been in power, would have taken us down the same path.

President Bush is the favorite whipping boy in this whole affair ... easy for all those that voted to go, to walk that path again, and pretend they were off to the side. One can even say it's easy for those that voted no ... since they knew it was going to pass anyway. It was a silent no, with very few exceptions ... but very useful as political capital today.

There should be cuts across the table.

A clear mission defined in any foreign engagement and once it is defined all the politicians should refrain from commenting until it is done.

Presidents are appointed to make decisions, often unpopular.

There should be less big government.

The economy is doing well and things should be put in place to keep it that way.

A Christmas Tree should always be at the Whitehouse, and a holiday Tree should never be there.

Whether it is male or female that will have the inner fortitude to do the things that need to be done, it does not matter to me, but making decisions by the polls is akin to having mob rule.
