Greetings caitlyn, quote:
ORIGINAL: caitlyn Agreed. You would have to believe that McCain-Feingold will end up being a bridge too far. (lacking a better term) There definitely needed to be something to curb the way money was donated and raised, but one of the side effects troubles me. Now that a single contributor can only give $2000 (I think that is the limit), the candidates have to spend more time raising funds than actually working. So they travel to more fund raisers than in the past, to keep up with the spending increases (insane ammounts of spending) on advertising and campaigning. I was glad to see that you did some work for a local candidate, more people should actually participate in the system, especially at the grassroots level. I have done a bit of work for some candidates on the city, township, county and state levels in Illinois. Also a bit of election judging, and poll watching. I wish you well, Thadius P.S. I had brought up in another forum, whether a Gorean party could be viable on a local or national platform. The general consensus was that the stigma that "mainstream" America places on some of our beliefs would be the death nail to any candidate that identified as a Gorean.
