I would imagine that most of these people have some skill with snake handling just from observing then handling. Most US snakes are not that deadly or aggressive. The author took up snakes at one service. According to him, only the snake and he existed, and gradually he felt his consciousness dissolving into the world. It reminded me of some meditation practises. hum - wonder if it is anywhere close to some of the mental states we reach with S and M. All this hate directed at these people seems like the pot calling the kettle black. How many people have died in BDSM over the years. How would "normal" people react to someone willingly being tied down, whipped, and tortured to get to subspace. (We already know that since we are still classified with the mentally ill by the psychology people.) I say let them do as they please. Maybe they are nuts but aren't we all in one way or another.
