For me, it wasn't just a matter of "turning it off". I didn't -choose- the time of my freedom. It came after years of serving, and cherishing that service, and learning to yield everything, and learning to be ok with that. None of it was easy. My Owners called me into their conclave, and told me that it was time for me to expand my horizons. They then offered me mentorship with them, as an equal. Being Free, and keeping servants of my own, hasn't been easy either. It is an entirely different challenge, but one that I have also learned to cherish. I have learned that Ownership, to me, is also a form of service. It is encompassed in and encompasses every aspect of life, and the experiences of my life in service help me to be a stronger, more secure owner. There are -many- individuals who come to ownership through a life of service. Even on Gor, slaves were freed, and somehow had to get on with their lives. Some of them, I am sure, did so thoroughly and with great dignity and grace, and even went on to own property of their own, and manage them perfectly well. They cherished their life in service and its lessons, but realized that all things pass, and that in that passage often come new challenges and lessons, which they can also manage with pride, grace and passion. ORIGINAL: smilezz After all the recent posts and the questions that are arising.....Oh yeah, and not really wanting to hijack anyones post either. I have a whole lot to ask/say. I'm going to start with this one: When i have heard over and over again that being a Gorean slave is not easy, yet very rewarding.....how is it that one day one decides they are no longer that slave, but a free person? I am very confused on this one. How does that just turn off?? Happy Thursday y'all! ~smilezz~
