Curious about what goes wrong with certain features, so playing about with stuff . . .

DemonKia -> RE: Failure Testing (8/16/2009 12:12:13 PM)

I'm on a Mac, using Firefox, & I recently was accessing CM thru a Windows-PC setup, using IE. Big huge difference. WYSIWYG for these text boxes on the IE-PC setup, but on the Mac-Firefox gig everything displays as the bracketed codes . . . . . Since most people are probably using the IE-PC or Firefox-PC route to CM, I'm not sure what keystroke / mouse-work they're doing to get this, but all I did was lop off the end-quote code to get the following:

ETA: also included sig line check box, which led to my sig line being included in the quote . . . .

So most of these problems are from the start- & end-quote (or whatever) code being left out or jumbled . . . . . . I've been wondering about sigs that have been turned some color, I suspect it's from color-code being started but it's end being clipped, so . . . .. .

That has always been the case, you can do the same with etc.

The code needs to know where to end.

Which leads to the charming idea that I can 'color' my sig without adding to its numerical character limit . . . . . By ending every post with the beginning color code & not the end color code . . . . . Like so:

ETA: sig check box *giggle*

ETA2: & to note that this method also tints the auto-generated 'Edited' text . . . .

On an unrelated issue I've noticed the reply to post box doesn't display wysiwyg since I updated to IE8 from IE7.

The website was designed for previous version and so compatibility mode is used it says?

Huh. I've no idea what version of IE it was, probably an older one as that comp wasn't getting much use, & it's user is not a tech geek type . . . .

Another difference I noticed between the IE-PC I was on & my regular Mac-Firefox setup was that I don't have those auto-reply functions in the 'Mail' page over on the profile side . . . . . I'd been puzzled at mentions of auto-reply letters until I saw the site on IE-PC . . . . . lol . . . . . Ah, well. I still adore my Mac . . ..

Well, I have to say that I am so digging the sig line coloration . . . . . It makes the green in my sig pop . . . . . . *happy successful experiment glow*

Excellent!

This is still here!

I needed a place to do this:

'On The Problem of Being Too Nice' from the 'Are you too Dominant?' thread in the Mistresses forum.
