well i finally got a copy and watched it last night.
i must say i was rather surprised that Tarl Calbot was an esmaculated man on Earth before he went to Gor, of course that had changed when he got back, lol.
personally i think they should have made more movies and left it with a good ending to do so but ..perhaps they didnt do so well at the box office.
all in all i enjoyed the movie.
i am curious as to what other lifestylers think about the movie itself
Be Well
thanks

Mostly...my experience with the movies have been they are used as gag jokes, something to watch and laugh at when in the company of others. (Otherwise, they never leave the shelf, lol)

I hope this is not offending to anyone, just an honest answer, that would be a thumbs down, *winks*

I'd like Spielberg to do a Gor Series and follow the books (ok with better dialogue). He could team up with Zanuk/Brown again ... However I guess it would have oly limited appeal and it would be rated R so the kiddlywinks cant gert ideas as to what to do with female teachers or the girls in their play pit... VVWEG

Greetings Master IronBear!

I hate to get started on the movies, lol I would hope if they did a remake, there would not be a pink, glowing home stone.

Wishing you a splendid weekend,

lisa{Sea's}
**ps.. yes there were two made, Im not certain, but I think the second one was worse.

I've never seen a Gor movie..but i kinda pretty much think no movie ever made is as good as the book it came from.

Books guide the reader into their own world, the reader is given space to create the visualisations and responses within themselves whereas in a movie, its all directed for you, you have to put up with actors who portray a certain way and the whole storyline is "Dominated" by something other than your own associations.

I think what bothered me most about the movie (I only saw part of the 1st before we turned it off) was that there was so much to work with and they not only didn't follow the actual story but they went so far as to make the movie almost antithetical to the philosophy.

I have often thought that if done well and done correctly, Gorean movies could be absolutely amazing. I don't imagine that would happen any time soon, however.

greetings

I am assuming you mean the Gor movie with Jack Palace and Oliver Reed? Yes they made to Gor movies. The Gor Movie I think you saw was "Gor" the second was "Outlaw of Gor". "Gor" is now owned by TNT and is shown every now and then. The other one has disappeared. If anyone makes a Gor movie how about Tarl Carbot with RED like he is suppose to have.

I wish you Well

Marcus being against slavery? Paga slaves with a NY truck stop waitress attitude? I think I made it through about 15 minutes before I just couldn't take it anymore.

It sucked so bad. I would like to see John Carpenter have a go at one of the books, now that would be an interesting movie.

I suspect like anything else, that someone saw it as a cultural phenomenon (read cult) as is the case, and thought it might be slovenly marketable, and in passing make a buck, but never seeing it as a mainstream issue.........

Perhaps, someday within someone's lifetime here, (even in fantasy) a fair caricture may be ensconced on media.

I rather doubt it, however.

I've watched both movies and they were pathetic. An insult to Gor if they weren't so damned badly made.

Now of course if the books were properly filmed with a first class script, would we?....Could we?..... Should we hope to see a documentory on Gorean Lifestyles done again properly????? God forbid that we see "The Muppets of Gor"

IronBear,

I know there is nothing that recommends me to it, but I would beg your consideration as me for "Kermit of Gor"; okay okay; barring that.....
"SpongeBob SquarePants of Gor".......

I am a multi-faceted individual, I'll warrant.

Now ; I ain't kidding you babe, this could be big!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kermie.
