Actually, I do watch HBO. I watch Bill's show regularly and find him very funny. I also find that he does make an effort to have both sides represented. He shows the same respect to his conservative guests as he does to his progressive guests. He also has the same caliber of conservative guest as he does of progressive guests, not endeavoring to make either look bad.

The closest I have seen to anything you could call prejudice is that he is an outspoken atheist who considers religion to be silly and is not afraid to say so. I do not find this bigotry any more than I find those who profess a religious persuasion and faith to be prejudiced.

So, despite your charming assertion that I am either ignorant or bigoted because I do not share your opinion on this matter, I would think that some expansion on your simple "he is a bigot", as erudite and informative as it was, is not inappropriate.

Considering that most of the US government has treated education as a bastard step child for well over the last 50 years, I'd say that both sides had a hand in creating the current "idocracy" that exists. It seems to me that they were all gung-ho about cutting education budgets while increasing the military spending at every turn... (I guess they figured that the only education a trailer park, or ghetto kid really needs is how to feild strip, and reassemble an M-16, and how to aim it more or less in the right direction.)

The GOP ripped away the funding, while the Dems kept allowing for lower and lower standards. Together, a toxic cocktail that led us to where we are today: and the stats are frightening... something close to 68% of the American population is functionally illiterate. Most of those are in the upcoming generation of kids entering their teens. (Not to point a finger at anyone specific, but just looking around at some of the profiles and posts on CM should make you realize that even trained monkeys, apparently, can be taught how to type on their keyboards...)

Yup. Maher is dead on target. But then, this is a problem that even a person blind from birth should be able to see and point out. The tougher part is finding a solution.

Please google "Rush Limbaugh Lies"...I could put the citations on this board...but there's just so many of them.

And once again, Bill Mahr is a comedian. He's not supposed to be a source of facts and figures. Further, while I know a lot of people agree with his statements, I don't think he's held up as a pundit of the Democratic party, unlike Mr. Limbaugh seems to be for the republican party

BULL SH*T! I use to watch his show all the time. I realized that he usually puts about 3 progressives on the show with one conservative. This conservative usually finds himself out numbered in almost every discussion. Anything the conservative says is usually dismantled by Bill or 3 left wing guests. What you're saying either proves you are in denial or proves you are a lier.

I never said he had the same number of conservatives on his show as progressives. (I could make so many nasty jokes on that matter right now but I gather that a sense of humor is not your strong point). What I said is that he keeps the discussion on track, does not encourage personal attacks from either side and let's both sides have their say. If the conservative argument is dismantled, perhaps it is the value of the argument and not the unfairness of the forum that is to blame.

And yet AGAIN, it is a comedy show...not The Week in Review. If you don't like it, feel free to find a funny republican. Limbaugh, Cutler and Beck are pretty good clowns.

Oh...and I'm not going to complain about your calling me a liar. I, unlike many, am not one to get all bent out of shape and start whining about such things. I would however, prefer if you learned to spell it correctly. It is annoying to be attacked by someone who can't handle the English language.

Drug use, denying it during a two year investigation, then finally admitting it and turning one self in (which is probably the only smart move he made during the whole episode) would constitute, to me, a dumb person. sorry, he had lots to lose, and he lost lots, and he didnt care, proven by his actions.

but, hey, believe what you wish about intelligence. to me, actions speak louder than words...
