Seems a good idea to me, as what is more impersonal than air travel these days

And yes, the pat down is always a pain in the ass, as it always seems to be me who is randomly picked, at every airport, it does make me wonder about my appearance sometimes.

But, aside from that, the report says the Rapiscan machine has been used in the US and the Netherlands for sometime, has anyone here been subjected to it's prying eyes ?

Your thoughts, good, bad, indifferent ?

My suspicions are that people of the kinky nature wouldn't care if they were being viewed in the apparent all together via one of these machines, am I correct in thinking that ?

Which brings me to another point that I believe is a security risk at airport terminals, and it comes from the confiscation of liquids of more than 100ml at the check in. So, a bottle of water more than a 100ml gets confiscated at check in, but you can purchase the same product airside, and in greater quantities if you require. Not only that, but the famous duty free, one can purchase any type of liquid in quantities more than 100ml. My question is, who gets to check all the liquids on the airside of the terminal, all those products being ordered in to sell. My thoughts are no one checks them, it is assumed products from suppliers are not a threat, as the threat to air safety, is the good old paying passenger, those who make airports and aircraft , duty free and all those worker's jobs viable.

Now it has been in the past, airport workers have been found to be the source of potential terrorist activities, so they, we are told are now thoroughly checked, but what about all those products coming in to be sold to passengers to take on board an aircraft. Maybe the point has been raised by security staff at airports, but they were panned down in the interest of airport profits, as we all know, the ban on liquids ensures sales of shampoos and whatever other liquid a traveller requires, a captive market.

So, what are other's thoughts on this, the ban on passengers own liquids purchased cheaper outside of the airport as cynical profiteering under the guise of a security risk, and how do we know, how does those in security know what is delivered to the airside terminal is not a security risk ?

Or are those with a security interest just waiting to find out.

Maybe nylon underwear should be banned as their potential ability to create static sparks could be used to ignite fart gas and there be a threat.

Considering terrorists are now implanting explosives within their bodies this will do little other than increase that.

They have the xray machines at Washington DC Reagan (next door practically to the pentagon) and a couple of others i believe.  As I fly into Reagan a few times a year, the thought of being seen on an xray just makes me wanna buy the poor screener a big box of chocolates.

I believe that items are checked on delivery and have 'surprise checks'.  That is what I have seen on documentaries anyway.

what super fun! I can barely hold myself back from a flight from Manchester now, so that I can sue someone half to death for infringement of human rights; might even get enough for that SRS who knows?

Last minute arrival and checking in at the airport counter (versus checking in online 24 hours ahead of time) can cause you to be automatically identified for a more thorough search going through security.

Some parts of Scandinavia, I can sort of understand it, all those blondes, the occaisional redhead, and me, I tend to stick out there, but the UK ? Once I wore a money belt, as I was carrying rather a large sum of money, prior to an expedition, guess what, I got randomly picked and searched, and they on finding the money belt, asked what it was and why was I concealing a package. My answer was it says in your own airport security guidlines, that if carrying large sums of currency, use a fucking money belt, the wankers. The belt got removed, and searched. Honestly, a fair paying passenger, I felt like a criminal. But, as to why I get picked for searching, I have no idea, I do not arrive early, nor do I arrive late, but one thing that I am, is polite to all, as , it is the way I am, I have considered, if it is the politeness that gets them wanting to pat me down, are they unused to it, if it is that, it is a sad reflecion on society

So what is it, yeah, I have long hair, but I am not a drug user, I can dress weird, but when travelling I dress practical, as what one is allowed to carry as hold luggage these days, 15kg with Ryan air, one tends to wear heavy items, like boots, I wondered if it was this, if it is, they can stuff it, as no way will I be travelling in a shell suit and training shoes.

Oh, and the last time I flew, I flew I took a business flight to Stockholm, all those suits carrying laptops, I was not in a suit, but I was carrying a laptop and guess what, I got randomly picked to be searched, and my laptop had the going over too. Kind of enraged, I asked why, the answer was, on a business flight, I was not looking like a businessman. My answer was, does it never occur, that if someone wished to cause a problem with the flight, they would blend in with the people on the flight, not stick out like a sore thumb that I apparently do, to get stopped and searched. Again, wankers.

Sometimes I wished I had gone into airport security, as I think outside the box, and have eyes like a shit house rat

So you are going to more closely inspect people who had their appendix removed recently?

So you see scar tissue what is the next step, get the scalpel and rubber gloves out?

Aimed at calming mass hysteria probably but sensible people can see things like this are mostly all for show not greater security.

The latest is that under eighteens are not allowed to be scanned, as the person scanning what is technically a child could be prosecuted under  UK child pornography rules. I amjust wondering when it is that various other human rights groups get there nose stuck into this new scanner, as the child issue was brought up by one human rights group as it is. The airport security when they agreed to the scanner said they knew it was a legal grey area when it came to under eighteens, and had no plans to scan children, so they say.

Just a thought, it only takes a young idealistic nut job under the age of eighteen to get through, plenty of them about. What is needed, is a Total Recall type scanner that skeletonises people as they walk through security.

I was under 18 when I was asked to half undress leaving Tel Aviv. The security person was female and my mother and sister were also in the booth. My sister also was asked to remove her outer clothing. We weren't patted down, but we developed young and it could easily have appeared there was more than breasts under the shirts.

The scanners could be used in exactly the same way. Privacy of the image and a same sex security officer.
