Hello Jane,

I have not written to you directly ever, I think. Although I do find it hard to read your posts, I never thought to judge you by them. I had thought that english might have been your second language but thats about as far as I thought about it.

I, myself can't spell for crap. I have to run my posts through a spell checker before putting them up and not everything gets caught by it. Both my girls spell things for me when I ask. I can be embrassing sometimes. I have a great vocabulary. I know words that most people wouldn't have a clue to their meaning. Just don't ask me to play scrabble.

As a thought to help you, have you tried voice recognition software? It will write what you say, like dictation. Only without someone to slap when they get it wrong. If you had a sub/slave I would suggest using them. I know my girls feel like they're of more value because I use them to spell. Maybe you could use yours to write for you. Well, just trying to help.

Greetings mons..~smiles~

You might try looking up a thing called tinySpell. It can alert you as you type of mis-spelled words, and will spell check anything you paste onto clipboard. From clipboard you can just copy/paste then to here or anywhere your wanting to post.

Touching story, mons.

I admit to thinking English was your second language. I highly respect in an individual who is bilingual, so maybe it's not so bad that they'd think that about you, hmmm? ;-)

By profession, words are my 'thing'. The misuse of grammar, spelling, syntax, sentence structure and punctuation is something even the most seasoned writer stumbles over, on occasion. I see it every day.

That you're still out there, writing your thoughts down in the face of the finger pointing and cruelty is a credit to you!

Keep going.

Edited for grammar, spelling, syntax, sentence structure and punctuation. Heh.

Just another suggestion that is used alot on a non-lifestyle board I go to.

Spellcheck.net.

As others, I figured english as a second language.

Hell, this language is hard enough to learn without learning problems.

Then you got idiots like me that post every sentence as another line :)

greetings mons,

I have read all your posts and have always liked them.

If using a period . is too hard for you because of your dyslexia.

Then I think you should hit enter at the end of each sentence.

Like in this post.

It will make it easier to read.

best wishes

Unfortunatly spell checks are not much use for a dyslexic. Many of us read by word shape and context...... spell checks throw up a list of possible words to choose from. Many of very similar shape.

Personaly I think that the wrong word ending up in the sentence would be more confusing and less clear than a misspelt one.

Mons dear, just do your best and if someone else can't accept that... it is their problem. Don't let them get you down. All to often those who attack someone because of things like this have a bigger problem themselves. Ignorance and stupidity are definatly bigger disabilitys than dyslexia is.

I have no problems understanding you, mons. If you wish something that will help you type, though it appears unnecessary, you may look up a program called Dragon Naturally Speaking. Once you've trained it to understand you it will type for you.

Unless you are able to get afreebe where you live, even the student program is expensive and the professional one is very expensive. I have the pro version and use it for writing professioal papers and disitations.. certainly it is an excelent tool, especially for thgse who are not good typers or are dyslexic ..... but it does require the user to train the dragon for voice recognition...

Indeed, Iron Bear, it is an excellent tool once trained but I didn't find it to be prohibitively expensive. When I got my last copy it was only about $20.

The student version here runs out at about A$100 and the pro version at about A$300 to A$600 depending on location

Damn that's expensive. I must have picked mine up at a garage sale or something (it was a few years ago) as it was a heck of a lot less!

Thank you for the welcome. I've always lived by the adage "It's better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and prove it." Thus I don't post much.

I guess lately I've felt a tad more foolish.

Like most I wish my spelling was better, or my grammer or punctuation for that matter.

All of those things are good and necessary. But the most important part (to me) is the thought and message within the framework of that spelling/grammer/etc..

I have read your posts, and find that I understand them all. Your difficulty with the written word doesnt detract from your ideas and remarks. There are many out there for whom english is a second language, or with learning disabilities. Heck, there are even those who just skipped far too many classes in their youth (cant raise my hand, I'm still typing).

Keep up the good work. Your remarks are, as always, welcome and wanted.

If you do decide to go the route of the speech recognition software, I agree with the recommendation for Dragon Naturally Speaking. It's been quite a few years since I used it, but even in it's earlier stages it was a remarkable bit of software.

Well what ever your using now mons..it's working great. To have come here with a inner struggle, be told something negative about yourself, and have taken the bull by the horns to improve upon that something instead of saying screw you and walking off is a great tribute to your spirit, strength, and desires within to learn.

hats off to you

Well Wishes to you and yours

mons; i have come to value your kindness and trutworthiness, and have never had difficulty reading your posts; just go slower, is all. My kid is dyslexic and it was a horror, for she is also gifted and her frustration was so hard; i think she has learned to compensate some, as people here have suggested, but i respect anyone who admits to a disability and overcomes it and participates fully. Anything i can do to help, i will; i'll even proof your posts for you if you like.
