Lots of people make their own dungeon furniture but be careful when you copy as a lot of the stuff on the market (especially spanking benches) are not that good. I would stop copying and come up with your own ideas.

i've drafted my own plans and constructed spanking horses, St. Andrew's Cross, and other bondage frames and furniture.  It is best to created your own plans to fit both your space requirements and your particular needs.  For benches/horses of any kind the best advice i can give it to make sure the top is long enough and the feet wide spread enough so that the unit remains stable even when you have a 200+ pound sub bucking like a bull fresh out of the chute.  The best bench i've made is constructed out of 1" pipe with a well padded upholstered top on a base of 1-3/4" LVL - that bench should last for decades.

Making your own furniture using your own ideas is such a joy, then putting them to use, seeing how well it works, how much your sub enjoys being on something her Dom has made for her, simply great. I had a full dungeon a couple of years back, made a swing that visiting subs loved. Think support, yes, I know it is suppose to be a little uncomfortable, but some of the things I see I think would do serious harm to things like the spine. You don't want to cripple them. My subs are on the heavy side (my pref) so I make my stuff to support lots of weight. Use good wood, you can make good stuff from pallets. I remember the very first piece of furniture I made. The more effort you put into you dungeon furniture the better the results. Check out a book called the better dungeon book (I think that is what it's called) I lifted a pattern from it, portable bench. And for even more fun, have your sub assist you.

Every piece I have made has been from a design I saw on the net with my own special twist to it. Most basic funniture/gear you will see is very simple to build. Copy pictures and draw it up on paper as a print, then make your own modifications to it there. Check everything for measurements that will suit your needs too. Heights have generally been an issue for me since I'm 6'3, so tables, benches, vault horse, etc have to be a bit taller for acess. (I refuse to squat lol) Take into account your sub's height/weight as well as your own. Nothing's worse than having to bend yourself in half to have acess for any sex with a piece you made too short, been there, done that!

My Y-chair is a perfect example. I got a few pieces of 6x6 from a jobsite dumpster and designed it around them as the main frame. Since my wife/sub is a bigger girl, I modified the legs to be a bit wider than most and added a bit of a seat, rather than just the area where the upper-leg pieces intersect.. I made the top of the "cross" taller than those I have seen, and added a bent-pipe frame with a pulley for breast play. All modifications to the origional design I saw have worked perfectly. It weighs a ton, but once in place, was screwed directly to the floor and hasn't moved in 6 years.

Use the plans/designs you find around the internet for inspiration, but then come up with your own designs. Fit it to your needs/space. Building and designing it yourself is going to give you so much more satisfaction that you'll be glad you did it yourself, even it it doesn't come out perfect.

I used to go out with a guy that made most of the dungeon furniture for the London clubs and bespoke furniture for London Mistresses. He used to moan all the time that people copied his stuff and I used to say, theres nothing you can do about it and just be flattered that people think your stuff is good enough to copy but then he made a master peace and called it Chantel the hermaphrodite. He used it as a show peace once in a London club and it was photographed. A few months later we frustratedly watched a perfect copy of 'The first Chantel the Hermoaprodite come onto the market, was marketed as a unique one off peace and it wasn't made by him.
I was chatting to a guy the other day who has just started making furniture with the intention of retailing them. He said that he is trying to put a patent on his stuff and I tried (nicely) to explain what a waste of time and money.
I don't see anything wrong with copying so long as you don't claim it as your idea.

Another place to find some blue prints is on foxyfurniture.com. To find the free blueprints, just click on the item you are looking for, and they download is on that page.

I second "The Better Built Bondage Book".  There are lots of projects ranging in difficulty and the furniture designs in there are focused on safety, practicality and portability.

I must also cast a vote for The Better Built Bondage Book by Douglas Kent. Lots of good info, especially the sections about how to use the tools to make your creations, if you are not experienced with such work.
