I admit thst this morning I baited the cat trap and set it up on the deck. Shortly after Ash showed up for breakfast (I had brought the food in last night and they were all hungry). He sniffed around and went into the trap. Little Smokey was right behind him. Following in their foodsteps was Buttercup. She sniffed around the entrance, and then both sides. She jumped up on top of the trap and sniffed some more. Then she stepped on the door to the trap.
Do I really need to say what happened next? You guessed it, Buttercup sprung the trap, with Asn and Smokey still inside! (hilarious laughter in the kitchen as we were watching). Anyways, Buttercup booked it out of there real fast. We got the two kittens into a carrier (just do not ask what state my bathroom was in after the transfer, it was not pretty), and took them down to animal services, after we reset the trap on the back deck.
I admit that when we got back from animal services, Buttercup was sitting on the trap, while Shadow was caught inside. Another trip to the bathroom door transfer, reset the trap again, and back off to animal services.
I admit I did not get the carrier locked properly, and Shadow escaped and managed to get up inside my dashboard. Bylaw officers tried to get him out but with no luck. Drive back home.
I admit that when I got home, there the trap sat, on my deck, sprung. Buttercup was inside. AnOTHER trip to animal services, lol.
I admit that when we finally returned home from the thirc trip, I left a window open in the suv, hoping Shadow would eventual.y come out on his own. He did.
I admit that we will reset the trap again tomorrow morning, but I am not confident that we will have another shot at catching Shadow. He has been, by far, the most skittish of tnd four, and I may have just ruined things.
I admit that as badly as I feel for the kittens, I know in my heart that is was the right thing to do, if they are ever to have a chance at a safe, happy life.
I admit that I miss them already.

I admit thst I only have seven scratches and one badly broken nail ( owie owie owie).
