I'm about 1/3 way through Kur now. I have to admit that the writing seems to come from the Kur's viewpoint and that adds just enugh additional difficulty in the writing that it's, in my mind, the most difficult read of any of the books in the series. It also seems to me that the hero Tarl (back to using the name Tarl Cabot) just still seems to not see the obvious plots against him til the last few chapters, whereas they are perfectly clear in the first few chapters to the reader. Norman seems to give us sufficient hints (while stating Tarl obvious misconclusions) quite often in the early chapters. Sometimes I get so annoyed with Tarl for his so simplistic conclusions that will turn out dead wrong in the end. I won't say more so's I don't spoil it.
