A point which was implied in what was said, but perhaps not clear...

It's not that we're fond of idiots. Far from it. But handling idiots is up to the free, not the kajirae.

Some of the time, the free- or at least those who spot the post- all independently arrive at the conclusion that addressing it isn't worth the time (think along the lines of "wtf? where do I even begin with this one? I can't count the ways that post is broken"), and this has the unfortunate side effect of making it appear as though nobody minds said idiot, while in fact the opposite is true. And, seeing as kajirae are expected to post according to their station, that may also give the erroneous impression that the person is somehow being recognized as this or that, whereas the simple fact of the matter is that it's exclusively about the kajirae recognizing their own station.

The FAQ thread is our attempt (cue the tipping of hats to Tim) to explain a lot of these issues in one thread.

Occasionally, a point may bear elaborating, summarizing or a changing of perspective.

I would like to think that this was such an occasion.
