Malkinius -> To all those new to the Gorean forums..... (12/18/2009 12:26:45 AM)

Greetings to those who are new to Goreans and this forum.....

A few recent, and long, threads have drawn in many readers and a few posters who are not used to how and why Goreans do things on forums like this. I am going to step out of the shadows where I have been quietly reading and as a long time poster here and most other Gorean places make a few comments that I hope will clear things up. Just the short forms so you have a clue why we do some of the things we do. Please understand that I am not talking about the online players at Gor. I am speaking of those who either live or claim to live as Goreans. See the FAQ threads for the longer explanations of my statements.

First of all, we are a very insular group. We do see things as us versus them. If you claim to be Gorean we will test you to see if you meet our qualifications as a Gorean. No, you don't get to define your own. Yes, we do get to judge you and we will. No, what you do may not be OK with us and we have no problems telling you so. We are not politically correct and will deal unkindly with anyone who tries to force it on us. Most people we test run away. This is a good thing. Some of us have been doing this long enough we spot the fakes almost immediately. We do not tend to treat them kindly.

We don't care if you are here or not. If you go away and never return we won't chase after you nor will we miss you. We also don't care (in most cases) what you think of us. We also don't care if you don't like what we think of you. It is not that we don't care about things. We do. Goreans are a very passionate people in general. We care about our world, our place in it, our friends and families, our communities and whatever other groups we wish to associate with. We are, however, not going out of our way to recruit you. We are sort of like the Masons that way. You have to want to be part of us and seek us out. Those who have a real desire to learn about us we will help and encourage.

The majority of people on CollarMe are people who are "into BDSM". Many such people do not like Goreans. There are a few key reasons for that. We don't do things by their rules. We do not see ourselves as being any part of BDSM. We do not like being forcibly included as part of a group we do not wish to belong to. We are not a group which is run by and for the subs and slaves. They have also only met the pretenders who claim to be Gorean but just play at it online. That includes the crossovers from BDS who think it is easier to get a slave by claiming to be Gorean. Slavery is usually the only reason that group is "Gorean".

Being Gorean has nothing to do with slaves and slavery. I know it doesn't look like that from the posts and people posting here. There are Gorean forums and email lists where slavery is almost never mentioned and a few where slaves are not even allowed to post or read. To be Gorean requires that you be free to make and take responsibility for the things you do and choices you make. A consensual slave has two choices. She can obey or cease to be a slave. This is why slaves can never be Gorean. They can only be the slaves of a Gorean.

Some Goreans are involved in consensual slavery. We see slaves differently than most of BDSM. The goal for us (yes, I know, not in all cases the practice), is that the woman (yes, almost always a female, not a male) is a slave first and always no matter what else happens in her life. There are no time outs. There are no out of character times. There are no scenes. There is just a life devoted to serving and pleasing their owner however he wishes to be pleased. A Gorean's slave's relationship to any free person is that of a slave to the free. They are not slave to their "one". They are not slave to whomever they want to be slave to. They are slave, period. No, this does not mean that they must obey any order given by anyone about anything. We are not stupid and you should not be either. It means that they are expected to speak, act and be what they claim to be or the slave they want to be. Any free person can correct any slave at any time for any reason. Being a slave is a no-win situation. It takes a very strong woman to actually be the slave of a Gorean. They are far from being a "doormat". I have seen and read about more of those in the BDSM world than I have among Goreans.

Why are we here? Good question. Some Goreans are involved or have been involved in BDSM. Some came here looking for a slave or an owner and stayed. Some came here because Goreans were posting here. There are many reasons. I predate the Gorean forum here. I came because I owned a slave who had a profile here. Most Goreans and people pretending to be Gorean read but do not post. That is true in all venues, Gorean, BDSM and mundane.

Who am I to say these things? I am Malkinius. For most who have been around on and offline Gor for years, that is sufficient. They know me and what I am. Many here have been on the receiving end of my testing them. A number of people here I have met in person in my home or elsewhere. I don't post much any more. After about decade of doing too much I stepped back to prevent burnout. I still post from time to time when I have something to say here or elsewhere. I hope this helps some people understand us better.

Be well....

Malkinius

MistressRosalyn -> RE: To all those new to the Gorean forums..... (12/18/2009 1:14:47 AM)

Malkinius, thank you very much for taking the time to educate those of us who are new to these forums, and to specifically clear up some of the issues which presented themselves in the most recent thread. For many of us, this was our first exposure to all things Gor, and the apparent contradictions were a bit puzzling to say the least.

I am quite certain that many, like myself would have liked to ask questions to be enlightened, but didn't relish the thought of having our heads bitten off and stuffed down our neck, and did not wish to unwittingly overstep bounds that we weren't aware existed. So again, I thank you for you clarifications, and the time it took to publish those thoughts.

May all your endeavours prosper.

Greetings Rosalyn,

One thing you will find, if you ask a question from a position of respect, you will likely get it answered in the same fashion. If someone seems rude, first look to see if they are just being straight forward and abrupt, as many Goreans are, without the intent of being rude.

Live well,
Orion

Thank You OP, i understand better why Gor appeals to me. i also now know what was turning me off about it. Thank you again.

Malkinius -> RE: To all those new to the Gorean forums..... (12/18/2009 4:28:41 PM)

Greetings all....

There was something I thought of after I posted my original message. It is based on a saying from many years ago by Bear- of Ar. He was speaking to those who wanted to be the slaves of Goreans when he told them (to paraphrase), "Run away. Run away as fast and far as you can and don't come back. Only if you can't stay away should you return."

What I understood he was really saying is that if there were any doubts that being a slave, not a sub, not a girlfriend, not a lover, but a slave was something you could not help but be, you should return. If it was any of the other things, go away and don't fool yourself and others about what you are or want to be. The line also applies to those who would become Gorean. If you go away and can't stay away. If you can't do anything else but see yourself as becoming Gorean, then you should return or stay and do so. If not, you will never be Gorean and might as well save yourself and us time and effort and go away now and don't come back.

Is that harsh? Yes, it is. It is also a threshold or a bar that some of us here have passed. It can be passed but not without work on the part of the person who wants to be Gorean. We do provide direction but there are no instant Goreans. There is no laying on of hands and anointing you as Gorean. There is work, pain, loss and suffering and a lot of testing of people before they are generally acknowledged to be Gorean. There is also a lot to be gained. It is, however, only for those who can be nothing else once they know what they can be.

Be well all....

Malkinius

Greetings Master Malkinius,

Thank you for the return of memories. verity remembers being kicked out of S&S when she first started going to that room, and for the love of all that is good in the world she could not stay away. So she returned only to be kicked again. It was a good many times that this happen before she was permitted to remain. verity has never forgotten those days.

I think someone needs to read the guidelines set forth by the moderators of the forum

kinda makes it sound like "dont do it my way or have your own belifes and ways of doiung it i will shun you and make sure everyone else shuns you at the same time where as if you read the guidelines set forth by collarme admins here

Noone should feel unwelcome on any part of the boards. Non Goreans as well as Goreans are welcome here. Lofty ideaology aside, as long as the owners want it that way, it stays that way.,,,my suggestion would be if in fact, you would decide that you are in control of the board, that you find a site, and you pay the bills for that  wish to come true. Then your ideals on who and who not to let in will have some credibility.

Merry Christmas to all!

I don't get this whole "Don't judge me" stuff...

We ALL make judgments, every day. Hell, it's part of being a good parent -- helping your offspring develop & exercise good judgment. I interact with people all over the place: here, in my work, at the grocery store. I judge those people continually. I watch their actions, listen to their words & make judgments. I must do so, in order to continue to function safely & successfully.

This is a textual venue. You post text that you choose, you get judged by the context, message & success of that text. C'est la guerre.
